does anybody know where I can get the FRC game sounds in an mp3 or other audio format? I have on CD before as a download to change your windows startup sounds. Thanks in advance!

and by "game sounds" i mean the start horn, end buzzer, foghorn, etc.

We thought about changing them this year as they are becoming quite archaic, maybe we can come up with some newer sounds for next year

But there so classic you can't change them. Maybe someone should record higher quality versions of the same types of sounds.

Well, FRC is entering a new era, maybe we needs new sounds too :) If someone wanted to "update" the sounds, we could try floating them past GDC to see if they bite.... (same durations, normalized like the ones I posted (all same volume level))

True, true. Maybe they could be like retro but yet still new.

Given that the "FRC" sounds were being used at the VEX tournament, it is quite possible that the sounds "belong" to IFI. (Or they might be open source... I really don't know... I was just surprised to hear the VEX game using the same sounds, until I realized that it was IFI who made the FRC control software and was running the VEX game.)

New sounds for FRC '09 may be a necessity more than an option.

IFI has nothing to do with the FRC FMS (Field Management System) <add> software and development </add>

The sounds are so classic. It would not be the same if they changed, but we all have to accept change every no and again. And if they do change, I am sure they will be good.

I think some "core sounds" like the foghorn, charge sound, & some others should never change (maybe modified only slightly) but every year new sounds should be added that tie in with some actions on the field as has been done in the past..

For example: The bowling pins sound in '04 when the balls dropped from the overhead holder & the fred flintstone car sound in (I believe) 06 during the final seconds of the match.

Also, if any sounds or music were to be made or used, I would seriously consider hitting up Kevin K. since his FIRST sounds megamix (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29893&highlight=Kevin+megamix) he released way back when was just brilliant!

Kevin K. ... FIRST sounds megamix (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29893) he releasedThis is quite addicting! And (dare I say?) much better than the FIRST songs introduced two (?) years ago.

Thanks for the Sounds link... I had these a long time ago and somehow I lost my copies of them...

On changing the sound effects... nope. As others have said, they are classic, and besides, we have some figures of speech we use at robotics that involve the sound effects... such as:

(after the person who made the bumpers put them on the robot in 2006):

A: The rules say you can't use brackets on the bumpers.
Bumper Person: ...I hate you guys.
Q(me): BUAHHH BUAHHHH (foghorn). :ahh:

(in the chicago planetarium after the countdown to when the doors would open expired):
Q(me): DAH DAH DA DUT DAH DAH! (autonomous mode begin sound)

Here's a bunch of FRC game sound effects from the 2004 season.

They haven't really changed that much, with the exception of the fact that they no longer use the bowling strike.

Thanks! I always wanted to get these sounds.

I agree with the others regarding changing the sound effects. Leave them be. Some things are best left untouched.
