Help settle a debate.It's 777.

If they wanted to make those into ones, they should have put the flat line on the bottom of the 1.

777 .. flat line or no flat line, the line at the top seems too big for a 1, proportionally.

I looked at the thumbnail before reading your question.

777

Immediately.

Edit: Ok, if you colored them to be wild tie-dye colors, the visual would project 111 pretty easily, I think.

Because the stem is more straight rather than slanted, I can see why you would think them to be 111 and say they are, using that font, but the initial reaction is still 777 in green.

Since it's a given that they're numbers, I have to say 777. I can give two arguments in favor of that and against "111" if you want me to.

(My first impression, however, was three of the Hebrew letter lamed.)

I dunno, the top parts of the numbers are just not level enough to make them sevens. I say Wildstang all the way.

111.

They're not quite 7ish enough to be sevens. If the long stroke was just slightly more slanted, or if the short stroke was slightly longer, then I'd say seven. I think the intent was a 1, just they came out slightly seveny.

Definitely, 111.

Look at how the top line is slanted down. You don't get that on a 7 just look at the numbers that I type. That slant appears in the 1 but the 7 is clearly flat acrossed the top. Just a thought, but why not ask the person who put up the sign?

They are "1"s with 7 envy.

It looks like the numbers are actually slightly tilted left in the picture, which would make them sevens.

Or maybe it's a combination of ones and sevens. Interesting binary, if that's the case...

Now call me a redneck, but some local sprint cars in town have numbers similar to that, the car number is 11, so I will say 111.

It could go either way... but they look more like 7s.
If they had bottom lines (or were tie-dyed), they would definitely be 1s.
If they had more slanted stems, they would definitely be 7s.
That is just a confusing font.

Perhaps now ... one can see why we were taught in Europe to write 7's and 1's differently...

Those are definitely European 1's

7's have a mark halfway down....

Even though I voted for 777....

Perhaps there is a wayward "4" to the right of the pic somewhere and the 1's were all running to meet it? That would explain the lean to the right and the "hair" flowing straight back behind them to the left.

Those are sevens--the weight of the upper part is just too much for that to be a one. (And besides, I've seen those numbers on some cars. The ones look different.)

I only see 7. Or perhaps 273, if translating from hexadecimal.

Like Bob said, if I was European, I'd say 111. But I'm not, so 777.

It says it's a badly designed font that should never have been used.

Oh, wait, those are numbers.

They are definitely 7's, unless you really try to see a 1 in there, then I can see you believing otherwise.

Seven Seven Seven, or very ambguous Ones.

So... polls show that the majority thinks they are 7's...

Now the question is, what were they intended to be?

I'd have to go with 777. My apologies to Wildstang.

777 has over double the votes 111 does. I think the verdict is in.
