Hello i'm trying to host a site for my team and it seems that the Seeva ordering for site hosting is down. Is there any other place where I can get free website hosting?

Google offers a free service called Google Sites (http://sites.google.com/) which makes web 2.0 like websites. We don't use it for our website but if you would like something free this is an option.

I don't think you can with Google Sites

with Google Pages you can upload basic formats (html/css) only... but it's a pain, as it is not made for page uploads

Try http://www.freehostia.com/free_hosting.html. I've used them before I had hosting of my own.

http://www.sevaa.com/order.php

Contact Sevaa (their number is on the page) and request FIRST team hosting.

You could try hosting from your own computer with some free software for a temporary setup. Apache its a free web software that can host a page out of your own machine. As for a temporary domain name you could use dyndns which provides a "Word" address to you ip even if it is Dynamic. This software pack would provide a temporary solution till you find a host. The advantages are that is is free and you can see how the site or sites reacts. Disadvantages would be that you are limited by your computer and internet connection.

I'm not familiar with the windows version of Apache but as for the mac there is a great free software called MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL, Php) that combines all these services into one application.

Hope this helps someone who wants to host a page but doesn't have the money right this second.

I made a tutorial on how to buy a server, install linux, use dyndns and apache to get your website online.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the process. I've done this numerous times with different ISPs and it has worked well.
