This is one of my favorite activities in MOE. At the link below is our latest Kids Luv Robots coloring book, containing the winning designs selected by our team. The robots are designed and drawn by students up to 3rd grade. We pass out the books at all of our outreach events and demo.

My favorite is Bella, the guinea pig cage cleaning robot. (It's easy to guess that student's household chore!)

The coloring book is adorable! I really like how the Moe comments provide encouragement and educational content at the same time! I imagine the team has a hard time picking the winners!

That coloring book is straight awesome! I sent it my old roomates, who are elementary school teachers. We'll see what kinds of drawings they get back (1st and 3rd grades).

It's interesting to see that some of the robots have drive FRC-esque drive trains and some have FRC-esque numbers on the bots. Makes me wonder if they were inspired in their designs. :cool:

Applications were passed out at the library read-alouds where the students read a book to the little ones and demo a robot. So it's very possible that they were inspired either by the robot in the book (which is from 2005 and has wheels) or robot that was demo'ed (from 2001 and has a tread system).

We use Lil MOE from 2001 partly because it is small and compact, and partly because we won the National Championship with it and don't want to take it apart!

Feel free to use or distribute any of the books we have on our website. We are pretty proud of them and would like to see them used.

This is such a worthwhile project/idea/outreach.

I'm stunned by the amount of work and thought that has gone into this coloring book program and the possibilities that it provides.

Here in Austin, I have worked with a group of young children who have had troubled pasts that impact their present and possibly, their future. They are familiar with robotics due to the annual workshop that FRC 418, LASA Robotics, has developed for them.

I'm thinking I may contact the home and ask if I can come for a visit, bringing a little bit of 'homework' with me. :) It would be pretty cool to see what the children would do with the assignment.

Thank you for this thread, Carol - it was a goosebumper for me. I know how excited children can become when they see purple - I can not even begin to imagine what they are like when they see MOE green walking in their direction.
