How many here would be interested in a FIRST Ventrilo? I was talking with Vivek and he brought it up after I said something about it. It could be a fun opportunity to communicate with other teams, besides the IRC channel and CD. My gaming clan has good connections with a hosting company, and I could look into getting a good discount for us.

For those who aren't familiar with Vent, it's basically a free Voice Over IP program, very popular among gamers, though it's also been used for businesses, groups of friends, and even large families.

I think this is a great idea, especially for those questions you want to ask during build season. Obviously there would need to be plenty of slots not to mention sections, but I think it could be useful to many teams, and fun!

I would've said yes, but the cake being a lie was MUCH more important than the question :D .

In the words of the cool-aid man: OHH YEAAAHH!!

A big chatroom like that would be awesome. I'm not too experienced with vent so others would have to figure things out about that but I'd definitely be interested. It would be a great resource.

EDIT: It might finally give me a chance to use the built in mike that came with my laptop. :) It's of decent quality but I've only used it once.

EDIT2: I've never tried voip programs but a large IRC chatroom might be easier to decipher. I don't know. Something like CD only a lot faster replies would be good. :D

There is a FIRST IRC. But as mentioned by lasereyes, this would make it very easy to ask questions. We could have mentors get accounts setup so that they're easy to identify.

Also, those voting no, please state why, just in case you're thinking about something that may not have come to my mind.

From the locations listed here (http://maxfrag.net/), which server would be best for everyone? Pings are usually low, overseas users will hit 100-200, depending on their connection. I'm thinking something central like Dallas or Chicago.

Yeah, chicago would probably be better since we have a lot of north east teams and canadian teams. We also have a bunch of West coast teams too so idk. My vote's for chicago.

Chicago would be great here too. If you need help setting up/ controlling the server, let me know.

Chicago it is! I just found out that the server will be free, so I'm still in talks with the guy from MaxFrag right now.

Most likely I'll need to setup a few Server Admins to help keep things in control. I'm wondering how many slots to start off with. Once the FRC season hits full swing, we could see a good amount of traffic, depending on how many people adopt this.

Rock On! Send me the info when you get it! Try to get as many slots as you can, seeing that this could potentially be a great source of information.
