View Full Version : [OCCRA]: Pneumatics
Team 573 was wondering if it is legal to attach our storage cannisters directly to the pneumatic cylinders.

We were also wondering if it was legal to have our cylinder dump directly to the atmosphere without using any fitting.

Thank you.

This is not an easy answer as there are many implications. Please do not put all your efforts into this yet as we are having a serious discussion.
I hope to have an answer by the end of the day Wednesday.

Official answer:
We had to do our homework and make sure we made a decision that was fair to the entire OCCRA community of teams keeping safety as #1.
Answer:
As in all prior years we are restricting the usage of supply tubing both upstream and downstream to the kit 1/8 tubing.
Therefore the configuration in the above picture is not legal as it in essence using the storage device as a large supply tubing to the cylinders in place of the 1/8 tubing. While not exceeding the 60 psi rule it is in violation of the 1/8 supply tubing size - yes we know it is not tubing.....
We have restricted the supply to and from all devices to 1/8 tubing for safety reasons.
Please design according.
Please note a safety reminder and notice of inspection posted as a sticky in this forum.
