Today, I saw:
FRC: 2836 EBM Industries & Nonnewaug High School

I don't know if this new team has any ties to the old FRC 38, but I would personally like to welcome Nonnewaug HS back into the FIRST community. Best wishes to you!

If you know of any teams who have resurrected themselves in some way to compete in 09, please post them. It takes a whole lot to bring a team back!

As far as I heard, plans were in the works to bring back a team to Nonnewaug HS as early as before this summer started.

What I'm actually surprised at is that FIRST didn't give them their old number (38) since from what I was told, at least one former 38 member was going to jump on board there & help resurrect the team.

I'll have to get used to this new number from our resurrected parent team.

Welcome back Nonnewaug!! It's good to see a team return!

I have it on good authority that Team 22, HOMER, from Chatsworth HS will be back.

FRC has made an effort, especially starting last year, to nail down the definition of a rookie. Rookie teams now have to sign off on this criteria which is outlined here:

Even though FIRST has decided that 2828 will not be a rookie this year, I applaud FIRSTs efforts here to ensure an even playing field.

And welcome back to all the teams that are renewing their FIRST efforts. Best of luck to all.

No, and I doubt they will.

FIRST has ruled that we are a "new" team but not a "Rookie" team.

And Team number 2828 seems like a cool number to have! :D

FIRST has ruled that we are a "new" team but not a "Rookie" team.Same thing happened to 1025 last year. We were a new team - not a revival of a previous team - but not a rookie. We were originally given a rookie number, but then were given a number in the same series as the team many of our members had previously been on.

Well I hope they don't give us another number. I like the symmetry of 2828 :D
