254 will be there and is looking forward to seeing (and finally playing with) our friends from Vegas again.
Team 1323 signed up for Davis, but we are planning to come down to Silicon. See you guys there.

Price notwithstanding, 190 has to attend Week 2 and 4 regionals this year to do a shifted school schedule, so we will not be making the trek out to California.
I, personally, will be at SVR with my other team, 971.

Come to think of it, 2009 will be the 10th anniversary of SVR, the first regional on the west coast (although I believe it used to be called The Western Regional).

I recall a certain human player touching the robot while loading floppies and getting us DQd ;) or something like that. :D It may have only been a penalty?

If I recall correctly, there were 3 or 4 weekends of Regionals. During the last weekend, FIRST made the announcement that each alliance could pick another round of alliance selection, therefore having 3 teams in each alliance.
We had a 2 team alliance in Chicago at the Midwest Regional.

I stand corrected. That's interesting that such a massive rule change would take place mid season.
I do believe the alliances were only 2 teams at the NASA Ames Regional in 99 though.

Team 2024 shall be back again for the 2009 season. We look foward to atteding and are really glad to see all the familiar faces there again :D

I didn't mean this regional in particular. Any regional. No different than people getting upset about everyone calling "The Championship Event" "Nationals" in my opinion. If it's got a specific official name, that's what ought to be used.

I believe that sponsorship does matter to an extent no matter which point of view.
Receiving a NASA grant for example and having the requirements of putting NASA "meatball" stickers and in our team name means it does from a competitor's standpoint.
The Hawaii regional is heavily sponsored by BAE and is on our CA banner for 2008.:D

I recall a time about 6 years ago where I just went to a four year old event, got a pineapple, and had a lot of fun. It was a great plan!

We are definitely most likely going to be attending Davis this year because many families don't feel they can afford to travel further.

The listed capacity is always less, and we always end up with more teams. FIRST holds back spots for local rookie teams that are not shown publicly. I would expect that as usual SVR ends up with 45-48 teams or so.
Well, 840 has now signed up, so good luck to them! And to everyone else... it'll be weird watching the webcast from home...

OMGOMGOMGOMG We are next =D I'm so excited Sacramento will be brilliant this year. After 968's fantastic display at San Diego I am truly scared of 254 :). Anyone know if Mark Leon is MCing or if he is going to LA? After loving NERDS Youtube video's I can't wait to see their robot in-action! Go Shooters! Silicon is always exciting and intense. Also I can't wait to see what happens between 100 and 254, who between the two of them have been on the winning Silicon team EVERY year IIRC. Maybe we can get seed 1 last pick again like 2007 :]. Good Luck all teams!!! Im so EXCITED!!!!!!!

100 and 254 have not been the winners of SVR every year-in 2007 (The only year 254 has lost), 190, 1280, and 1516(?) won. 254 lost in the quarters and 100 in the semis

And you got the teams right, 1516 was the third member they are a local team of ours.

Can't wait to head on over to the Event Center! We're really looking forward to finally join in on the competition this year, I've gotten tired of waiting while other teams had fun these last two weeks. We're certainly hoping we can win SVR for the second year in a row, preferably not in the same fashion as last year(the hold-your-breath last pick and the controversy in the finals). But of course, the most important thing is for us all to have a good time. See you guys Thursday!

I remember talking to them a little while after the Hawaii Regional last year. From what I can remember, I believe they have a lack of resources to be able to full on compete in an FRC event. I think they're still involved with FIRST somehow though.

2024 asked us to take their place....................nah, just kidding.
There were several reasons for which they could explain to you folks later, but in a nutshell, resources was one of them.
They are not doing FRC this year, but still are involved with other Robotics programs as much as they have been the last several years.
I personally have not been to the SVR since 2001, but our team last attended in 2003. We are looking forward to attending and seeing new and old friends. We just had a blast with 192 being next to us in the pit all weekend in Oregon. What a class act team.

Just setting the record straight - the Wiki lists team 25 as the winner and doesn't even mention 255.

Man, you guys are going way back, as part of the drive team that got DQed alot at that regional, I miss those times... everyone fighting for the puck was fun and entertaining... it was also before kit bots and a wood was still a common building material...
