Has anyone successfully installed LabVIEW with this link? It gave me a license error.

Well... That's an interesting distribution method. I'm a bit surprised that NI/FIRST is now essentially offering one free year of LV8.5.1 to the world...

To Roger and the FRC people that made those instructions,

PROTIP: You have to rename "LabVIEW_FRC_PKG_080501.lic.txt" to "LabVIEW_FRC_PKG_080501.lic", or right click the link and do a "Save As..."

EDIT: Also, alternative to saving the file to that directory, save to your desktop or whatever as "LabVIEW_FRC_PKG_080501.lic". AFTER you install LV8.5.1 with the named serial, run the NI License Manager, go to "Options->Install License File" (or hit F8) then browse to and select the aforementioned file.

NB: I can't actually try this as I already have a nice legal copy of LV8.6 that I don't want to futz with, but either should work if FIRST hasn't provided a bogus S/N or license file.

Thanks Kevin, that is what I figured. For anyone else that finds themselves in the situation I was in, you'll have to uninstall LabVIEW and then rename the lic file.

I'm in the process of re-installing LabVIEW. I'll let you know what happens.

Well, maybe I didn't need to re-install. Either way it's working now. Thanks.

Ok.. I've tried several times to download Labview. It uploads good but when I try to un-zip it I get a "The compressed folder is invailid or corrupted" Anyone else having this problem?

Try to see if this happens for other ZIP files on your system as well. If so, the registry key for handling zip files is corrupted (this happens), and you'd have to delete it, then restart, and the system will restore that key to original functionality.

It unzipped fine for me.

Here is the MD5 hash of the file:
57F0BB1F471AB925D2F2ED55BE6A4764

To check if your copy matches you can download a very small freeware MD5 checker here:
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/MD5-Checker-Download-22900.html

If it matches it is a problem with your computer's handling of ZIP files, likely the issue sanddrag mentioned, if it doesn't match then the issue is in the download.
