254 is tentatively planning to come to the Davis Regional.
Team 1323 will be attending and 100's returning??? Yes, hope to face you guys again in the semi's (07): Gametime (http://www.thebluealliance.net/tbatv/match.php?matchid=3706). Also it is nice to see the poofs, looks like Davis just got a whole lot more competitive =).

Probably some SoCal team with a red and black robot... but that’s just a guess...

I was gonna guess the High Rollers.....them and the Poofs seemed very close last year, but I doubt they'd come to SAC.

thanks, we try to! and haha, that Chairman's banner is proudly hanging in our work area... which is in the maintenance staff's area, so no one else ever sees it... it's a bit lonely, though... :)

Well we have had some come from all over in the past, (34-AL, 56/869-NJ, 245/835-MI, 568-AK, 610-ON, 945-FL, 1726-AZ, 1960-MT, to name a few...) In fact I think 835 and 245 came out like 3 years in a row spreading their Michigan spirit!!
Should be great fun nevertheless, even if they're from just next door!! Sac/Davis continues to be the regional folks tend to pick as their second registration, however as of today we are at 18 teams registered which maybe a new record, we usually don't break 20 until the second round of registrations - well I guess that's in a few days any how.

I don't think 330 will be coming--they're usually a 2-regional team. L.A. is their home regional, and they're planning on DC for their away regional.
[edit] Cory, is the mystery team you speak of the blue-and-black twin of the red-and-black team mentioned earlier?

The Hawaii teams 359/368 wont be there also.
We are attending Oregon and San Jose this year.
Maybe next year since Vacaville is close by. ;)

Fundraising has been tight, but we'll get the money. This is my first year with the team, apparently they always just manage to make it. Hopefully in coming years we'll have a more structured fundraising process :p

Initial Registration doesn't require payment until Dec. While I imagine it won't fill up in the next few weeks, they should still try to register and secure their spot. It also helps us folks on the planning committee to know who's coming.

Normally I have to wait until after the holidays to get psyched for this regional. Now I get to recruit and manage all the volunteers in the meantime. Giggidy.

The sooner the better. We're still looking for a Head Referee and Head Robot Inspector.

My guess would be 233 too(hasn't been denied yet right?). Or could it be...217!? 25!? 1717!? I don't know, I'm just throwing out well known numbers now.:D
Anyways, 115 will be there as usual for our second regional, I love going to Davis, and now there's even better competition!

Yes I do, In 2007 when 100 got a ringer stuck on their flag pole and they still managed to win the match. I believe the ringer was stuck for atleast half the match. That was cool.

personally i liked the match about 2-3 before that:

our semi-finals match, when the buzzer rang, we were 100% sure we lost and we were all dissapointed because the other teams were both up on ramps. 5 seconds later we look over and VOILA the ramps drop, and we're suddenly going to the finals.
I couldn't hear anything over the screams from our team. :D

My favorite memory was semifinals in 2008. In the last round (3rd round - the tiebreaker), one of our alliances robots malfunctioned in autonomous and had to be E-stopped.
Yet we still managed to win, while outnumbered.

My favorite memory is definitely the epic Quarterfinal 1 matchup in 2007 that went 5 matches, when Alliance 8 (1662, 295, and 1726) almost knocked out Alliance 1 (100, 997, and 1458).
Of course, there is also last year, when we went through eliminations undefeated with 2122 and 1662 and won, that was pretty shocking because that was our second regional win of the year, both as second round picks!

and that would be the match that we lost to you guys... it took us fewer than 5 seconds to go from screaming to silent disbelief... definitely memorable! :eek:
I think my favorite memory would be this past year, when our mentor won the Woodie Flowers award! I've never cried so hard out of happiness before. :)

I have pointed out that they are a 2-regional team, and they have indicated that their "away" regional for the year is DC (see the thread for that regional). Not this year, unless something changes. (Note: DC has currently has 58 registered teams, not including 330, so there is a chance, though slim. San Diego is more likely, though, due to distance.)

The Tators are looking forward to the Davis regional in 2009. Randy and the crew put on a great event last year and we are hoping to do our part to make it a memorable competition this year. Since we aren't a big name - we might have to bring a big bot again :). Looking forward to seeing you all.

After the server crash it was pretty well filled up...
I believe 254 decide to go to Las Vegas instead. Anyone know if 997 is coming? I know they've lost a lot of money recently, but it would be awesome to play with them again.

Wow, 115 didn't make it on:ahh:, that's a bit shocking for me, I have yet to get word from the officers(I'm sort of out of the loop at the moment), so I don't know what's going on on our side.
On a more positive note: Hey! 1717's on the list! I guessed it right! Well, sorta.:D

Hachiban, we were partnered with them last year and I believe they will be coming back to this regional. Not 100% positive though, hey lets party up then. 100, 997, and 1323 :D lol.

Well that's nice to hear, unfortunately 115 has decided to look elsewhere after being waitlisted. Even though the chances are pretty good that we would still end up making it if we waited, we're in the process of choosing a different regional.
So that means we don't get to defend our title with 2122 and 1662, wish you all good luck.
EDIT: Actually, I don't think I should make this official, Davis is still probably our top option. Things are pretty confusing right now

I don't think we are going to make it this year, unless something changes soon it looks like our attendance this year will be limited to portland (The Oregon regional, or whatever it's called now :P )
We're going to miss you all at Davis! It has been one of my favorite places to compete! And that food court, with unlimited ice cream...... TO DIE FOR!!!!

I know the Tators are sorry to hear that the Spartans might not make it back to Sacramento. While the competition was heated and the emotions ran high during the championships last year, we have enjoyed the 997 robots and your team (especially when our robots weren't locked up :yikes: ). Were looking forward to seeing you in Sacramento, but are glad we will at least see you at the PNW regional. Hang in there guys.

Alright, now I can make a real official statement on behalf of MVRT115. We will be going to Davis, we managed to get info about the maximum capacity(42 teams) and our position on the list(41st out of all the teams registered), and our situation is looking good for Davis, so we will indeed be in Davis to defend our title. See you all there!

I remember that well, I was at the Drivers Station for team 295 when our team captain rammed team 100 and they fell over. but 20 secsonds earlier our allaince partner, team 1662 rammed team 997 and they fell over it was 3 on 1. we actually won that match. then we tied them then, then we lost, then we tied them, and then we finnally lost. that match was my favorite memory in FIRST
