After I warned the students it would happen :ahh: they managed to break off one of the tiny metal power tabs on a motor. Snapped off clean at the base -- no hope of repair. I've checked the Pitsco Website and they don't seem to sell a motor repair kit.

Has anyone else had this happen, and is there an easy fix for it?

Thanks in advance.

Uh...wow. I'm not sure. I don't even think there's a way to properly open up the motor. By best guess would be to contact Pitsco before you cause further damage to the motor.

That's one of the suggestions I have for next year. Have the motors come with wires attached with a common connection. It would make it harder to destroy the connection. I'll be honest. I told my kids that I need to do all the connections to the motors, because i looked at the connection and freaked.

:D

I feel that it is easier to build without all of the wires flailing around. But I can see/sense your frustration.

I think they should make motors with wires too, a few days ago i manage to pull a contact straight out from the motor. D:

Most motors I've seen over the years have either solder lugs (like these) or big fat metal tabs with threaded holes to hold a wire or spade lug. This design is more or less designed to result in trashed motors.

Thanks for the sympathy, everyone. Since it looks like the motor case is crimped and not screwed shut, I don't think it's even user-serviceable. :(
