Hi all,

I searched around the forums and couldn't really find a topic specifically discussing FIRST members' use of Twitter. This surprised me as I would think that teams would be all up for instant news on anything. I think this could prove useful with the control system beta out and experiences with it.

Team 555 has a twitter account that we used to update people back home of our match results and other ongoings during the championship.

I used jott.com (when it was free) to update it, along with the autodesk computers.

it was perfect for when the FIRST site randomly decides to stop updating the standings and such.

I actually don't know why I have a twitter because I usually update facebook and read updates on there as well, but when I get bored enough i update it in addition just to kill an easy 30 seconds of my time.

I have created Twitter accounts for each of the regionals, for example, http://www.twitter.com/FIRSTSD for the San Diego Regional. Each of these accounts is being followed by Twittbot so that any reply to the account is retweeted to everyone following the account.

If you twitter a reply to the regional twitter account, it will be retweeted to everyone following the regional twitter account.

Remember to follow "thebluealliance" for regional statistics

It would be extremely helpful to teams if once they followed "thebluealliance" that they set up phone updates. This would insure that your team never missed out on the final scores while you are at that regional. Plus you wouldn't have to take the time to go to the score boards. Isn't that helpful!:)

Keep in mind that twitter is limited by cell phone providers to 250 text messages per phone per week! (I often find my self without twitter updates to my phone on Saturdays :( )

I was able to see data only from a few qualifications and elimination matches. I was hoping to find them all. I was able to create a file that calculated penalties and supercells that were scored for the matches.

I hope in the LA Regional this week, I will use it live and find all the data from all the matches. Take a look and maybe someone can tell me why I did not see all the matches and data.

Try using Twitter's search http://search.twitter.com/search?q=frcsdc. When I use it, I see all the SD matches.
