FIRST and NI announced at the Control System Trainer's Conference in Austin today that a second cRIO would cost $750 and teams can buy one this season and one in each future season at that price.

A third cRIO or more could be purchased at academic rate of $1490 each

FIRST will announce when they will be made available within two weeks.

Finally.. we can put all the rumors of the cost of the 2nd one to rest.

Thank you FIRST & NI for this discounted rate! :D

Mark,
What does $750 include? cRIO and modules? Power Distribution module? Side Cars? etc...

The price includes only the NI cRIO and modules.
NOT any FIRST add-ons such as the Power Distribution Panel, Digital Sidecar, various bumpers, routers, etc.

Still, quite a bargain......1/2 the cost of what I had estimated! What other tidbits did you come away with?

While they didn't officially announce anything about where to get the other supporting modules, you might see something about it if you wander over to AndyMark (http://www.andymark.biz/09electronics.html)....

Also, since other tidbits aren't really related to control system prices, I started a new thread with me rambling on some interesting bits I recall:

Certainly glad to know the cost and which components for a 2nd CRio.

Does anyone know or has anyone heard definitively about getting a 2nd Drivers Station and it's cost?

Seems silly to me, to not have a spare for both.

The cost for the Drivers Station was not released at the NI training session held this Saturday. They did tell all of us that the cost would be available sometime within the next couple of weeks. So hopefully everybody'll know soon.

I'm trying to gather spare parts ordering info for many of the common control system components, including the cRIO. I'm putting this information, much of it tentative still, on the http://controlsystem.neofra.com site. As more info is released, I will update this page.

Here's the direct link (http://sites.google.com/a/neofra.com/2009controlsystem/2009-frc-info/published-content/hardware/ordering-spare-control-system-parts). For those who have accurate info, feel free to PM me and pass it along.

I imagine this will be resolved on it's own, but if it isn't please make sure your team's shipping contact information is up to date. I was trying to get a quote for the reduced priced second controller (early due to spending authorizations cutbacks in my area). The "Main Contact" that National Instruments had listed for my team was actually the shipping contact not the main so just be aware and make sure that is a person you can get a hold of them because National Instruments seems to be very strict on their policy (understandably with such a large discount).
