Hey has anyone had a problem with the measurements. We have put together the chassies and we have found that it is about 37.5in long, but it's about 28 1/8" wide. The rules say the dimensions are 38" long x 28" wide x
60" tall. If we were to move the frame over one whole it would shorten the robot by an inch. So as I see it there saying if you want it to be exactly 28" then you need a custom part not a COTS. Does this seem weird or funny to you guys at all.

We just went with the 27 and a bit, to give us some play.

The old IFI kitbot was always sent as a 38" square.

And you DON'T want it to be exactly 28" by 38". You want it at least an inch shorter to allow for bolt heads and the like that stick out. It's a lot easier than filing them down on Thursday at the event.

Never design for exactly the dimensions. I imagine it was designed to be cut down a hole length, to allow for small things like bolt heads that stick off it.

We are making our bot 27 x 37 so that we have a bit of play to fit into the sizing box. It's less stressful that way when you are trying to get inspected. Also, if you are over by a bit or the robot isn't square (been there, done that because of on field collisions), you don't have to shorten the bot at competition.

Ok, I see now. Well we will just have to move it down one hole. Thank you guys. :)

Don't forget that the axle bolt heads stick out of the frame. Not something you had to think about with the IFI frame.
