Is it possible to (easily) convert the KOP 2009 IAMs (assemblies) to Inventor 2008? Our lab is still running Inventor 2008 and we don't have time to upgrade. I installed Inventor 2009 on a laptop and would like to convert all the KOP 2009 files files to Inventor 2008 format so we can use them in the lab. I tried IGES/DWF format without any success. If anyone has the KOP 2009 in Inventor 208 format I would appreciate a link :)

Go FIRST!

Go FIRST!I think my dad and I once tried to use Inventor '06 (or whatever the version was that I had) and the previous version, or maybe it was more than one previous version. Anyway, he couldn't read my files, but I could read his just fine. I'm guessing the same thing goes for 2008/2009--'09 can run '08 files just fine, but not vice-versa.

you can get many of the 2009kop files that will read in previous versions of Inventor on www.3dcontentcentral.com

AndyMark Chassis, PowerDistribution, etc. There is the complete chassis and individual parts. Please let me know if you want something in particular - I am calling the manufactures for help.

I am still trying to find a step model of the camera. If anyone has it, please post.

Do a search on AndyMark or 2009kop for all the components we have posted. Select Inventor on download the file.

There is a movie on how to use 3dcontentcentral for downloading first components. Also available in multiple languages french, spanish, german, chinese....

You can open all the files in 2009, save them as stp, and then reopen them in 2008 and save them as ipt/iam

this is the only way I know of how to do it.. unless theres a faster way using autodesk vault or something

Inventor has never been backward compatible. In order to support new features the format of the Inventor files changes each year. I am not aware of any method to "back save" files without problems other than the save as STP process mentioned. This removes all the intelligence from the parts. You could restore some intelligence to the converted STP file by running it through the import translator that was available on Autodesk Labs.

Good luck.
