We eat pretty much anything...the parents take turns providing an entire meal for us, so we are well fed! The most popular is probably taco in a bag.:D

Our students' parents do ... we get everything from sandwiches to fried rice to pizza.

By far, my favorites are all of the variations of penne pasta! I can build for many hours without getting hungry after a plate of that.

Pizza (with chain grease and metal shavings, of course).
There's a pizza place directly across the street from our high school, so it's a build season classic for us. Last year the adults got bored of it, so we also did subs, wraps, and Italian food occasionally.

So many to choose from... if there's one thing the students and parents make sure of, it's to keep the mentors well fed during build season :)

My favorite last year was probably the taco bags we had for lunch one day. Imagine an individual sized bag of Doritos Nacho Cheese, throw in seasoned ground beef, salsa, lettuce, and whatever else you want. Shake it up and eat with a fork. yum!

So far this year... the cookies some of the students have brought in. definitely the cookies.

umm....pizza from New World's PIzza, a pizza place directly across from our high school, makes really hot nice, greasy/oily pizza, then we add our own ingredients, like said about chain grease and metal shavings....we're thinking of making it interesting this year but haven't made progress on that

Drink usually water, pepsi, diet pepsi, mountain dew, unsold drinks from Monty Madness and Kickoff....I'm glad we bought extra

EDIT: WOOT POST 100! 3 more till 103 yay cybersonics :D

One day some one bought chinese food and it was amazing! the next day for snack we ate cold egg rolls. it rocked!:yikes:
But everynight the parents of the 103 kids bring in dinner, usually home made and always very tasty! My mom made baked ziti. some one's mom made burgers and hot dogs and mac and cheese. It's pretty healthy and it gives us variety!

Nerds. For sure. (I prefer to call them geeks.) One of our team members brought in two 2x2x2 boxes of nerds that his dad recieved by accident. We have proceeded to demolish most of the first box. the second is for competition.

We've worked out a schedule where each parent provides either lunch or dinner one time during the build season and they can bring anything they deem fit so long as it is enough to feed about 40 people. So we are fortunate to get a good variety of food which is nice since we eat dinner at school 3 days a week...

The best is when we get homemade chinese food. Very good stuff.

I'd hafta say Mt. Dew wins... liquid fuel basically!

Although 3+ month old frozen cookies are always a delicacy! when the cookie's harder than your teeth, you know you've struck gold! Best part is, no one else eats them, so theres always a good supply! (And also no, I'm not fat either!)

Sounds like a lot of teams do the same as us... our parents provide a meal or two during the build season, so we get dinners 5 nights a week, and lunches on weekends.

My favorite so far from the parents is probably the full cold turkey dinner that we had last year, or the Dinosaur BBQ (http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/)that one of our new parents brought this year! But we have had so many amazing meals its hard to keep track!

Last night I had easy mac at about 11:30 when I got hungry again and was working on our Team's engineering notebooks/wiki at the school.

And every year our team celebrates Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (http://www.itzahckret.com/icecreamforbreakfast.html) on the first saturday in february. We have also started making it backwards day as of the last two years, and my husband and I bring "Breakfast for Dinner" and we cook waffles, pancakes, eggs and bacon right in the back room of our computer lab!! Its tons of fun and we've even had a few teams "crash" our dinner! :)

Vending machine drinks started to get very expensive in our school, then Coke decided they were making everyone fat and couldn't sell anything with sugar or caffeine in schools. We used to rely on the vending machines for drinks during build season, but since there is no sugar or caffeine in them, we had a problem. Fortunately, we found a solution!

We got a large mini-fridge from the older brother of one of our team members. We (by "we" I mean "I") had to wash it with bleach 3 times because there was some sort of science experiment growing in it, but we decided that almost makes it better than buying a new mini-fridge. We keep it stocked up with generic pop (or soda, for you non-Minnesotans) from our local Cub Foods (go SuperChill!). We even have a punch card system for it.

We worked out all of the details so that we get pop for 1/3 the cost of the vending machine drinks AND the team gets profit! :yikes:

Now we should do the same thing with snacks... Hmm...

We get 12-packs of the pop for $2.50 and we get some juice for those who don't like or can't drink pop. Anyone who wants to join the "Pop Club" pays $10 for the first punch card, then $5 for each card after that. Each punch card is worth 20 items. We calculated the profit per punch card (based on pop, the juice is a little more expensive) and it came out to somewhere around 80 cents per punch card, plus $5 for the first card (we were originally going to have to buy a mini-fridge). Also, we have everyone crush their cans when they've finished and we collect them. When the price of aluminum goes up a bit, we're going to take all the cans from the season- plus the cans that some of the students collect at home- and bring them to a local recycling center.

It's working really well. I think we have about 10 students and a couple mentors involved. It doesn't generate a ton of profit, but any money we can get is good, plus we all save money with the punch cards!

Our high school is 10 minutes from the center of Chicago and is conveniently located across the street from a burger king, subway and white castle. As well as a Greek/Italian/Mexican restaurant. We brought a whole refrigerator up and students alternate bringing snacks and meals. Our team is really diverse with indian black white latin and asian foods represented. Needless to say, we stay well fed lol. My personal favorite is a one a 1 dollar limitless buy-in on pepsi for the design team. Btw Pop>Soda

Last Saturday (not yesterday) I went straight to robotics without eating, so I had pizza for "breakfast." Then I went to work where the only nearby food is a pizzeria, so on my dinner break I had pizza for "lunch." Then when I went home past ten, my brother's friends had leftover pizza so I had that for "dinner."

And yet I still want more. My team gets the BEST pizzas I've ever eaten.

Mountain Dew, Tea, Coffee, Pizza, and pasta.

Like alot of other teams we have parents alternate providing meals.

We've had a couple of all nighters that involved a trip to the nearest convience store for "Supplies". One trip returned with 2 small jars of peanut butter, each one costing $3 O.O, and another returning with funions and mountain dew.

During build season we have the parents bring in lunch on weekends, and it usually consists of subs/pizza/soda, standard fare for any robotics team.

But during the competition, we go crazy. Monster, chinese food, pancakes, more monster, huge boxes of donuts; we have all these traditions that have evolved over the years.

And while in our pit, you don't eat, you inhale your food, cus who knows when the judges will come or something needs fixing/coding?

So do we, if we're in the shop during dinner during the week. Our sessions don't start until 6, but if there are mentors or a few selected students in the shop before then, Little Caesars it is.

Again, we don't start until 6 on weekdays, and end at 4 on Sunday, so the only time we need to have team dinners is Saturdays. Thanks to some very nice mommys and daddys, Saturday dinners are all homemade, and we can't thank them enough.

And then there's those of us who come right to the shop from work or are running late, and bring our dinner with us...

We haven't really had much in the ways of meals (meetings from 4:30 to 7:30, they go home for dinner) but this past saturday one of our students volunteered to bring pizza, even though I couldn't attend, I have a feeling much little ceasers was to be had (followed by food comas). Parents usually bring in snack stuff snack packs of chips (huge boxes of these), granola bars are a must (good boost if needed), as well as fruit, and we always have soda or water on hand to drink.
The more I think about it, the more I think we need to have a "dinner party" type thing... the team really hasn't had "time to themselves". A potluck for 20 can't be too hard to plan, can it?!
