any one know where i can buy PWM cables other than Ebay. There are not any on the andymark site and a google search gave no usable results. Would lowe's or home depot have them or do i have to find the supplier that FIRST used.

Thanks for your help

Check RadioShack. If it's one of the more hobby-oriented stores, they'll have them. Also check any hobby stores that deal with R/C aircraft--PWM cables are fairly critical/common items for R/C pilots. Lowes and Home Depot have a 99% chance of not having them.

Or maybe Frys will have them, if there is one near you.

A great source is Hansen's Hobbies http://hansenhobbies.com . They sell not only premade leads, but all the pieces you need to make your own. Another source is IFI, at http://www.ifirobotics.com/speed-controller-selection-guide.shtml

Or your local RC hobby store. You're looking for "servo extensions" or something like it. Just bring a cable in with you and any shopkeep worth his salt should be able to help you out.

We usually get them at a local hobby store that caters to the remote control airplane crowd. However, you can also get them here (http://www.ifirobotics.com/victor-884-speed-controller-robots.shtml) in various lengths.

I would strongly advise buying them from Ebay. they are extremely cheap, and come in a great deal of lengths. here is a sample page: 100cm, 20 pcs $15.99 (http://cgi.ebay.com/1000mm-100CM-Servo-Extension-Cord-Cable-X-20pcs_W0QQitemZ150322535775QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadi o_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item150322535775&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50)

Best place I have found is www.dealextreme.com

short (300mm) $5.31 for a 10 Pack: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11985

medium (500mm) $6.17 for a 10 Pack: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11986

long (1000mm) $9.49 for a 10 Pack: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11987

and the Y-Cables $7.37 for a 10 Pack: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11984

They will ship directly to you from Hong-Kong via the Kong-Kong equivilent of USPS Priority mail. Last time I ordered some I got them in a couple of days.

The quality is equal to the ones that came in the KoP this year or better. The Y-Cables are heavier gauge than the ones we usually get in the KoP and the regular ones are the same as we usually get. As with the ones in the KoP you will have to snap the shroud of one end and cut off the little side tab per these instructions: http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Relay%20Cable%20Memo.pdf

Come to think of it our supply is running low. Time to order some more!

I have used this site several times. The servo cables are good. Two other things to note. They only take Paypal and best of all almost everything has FREE shipping. For Hawaii teams this is a big deal. Most of my orders have been received within a week. We also used Hansen's Hobbies. They shipped the same day (USPS) and only charge $4.95 shipping - again great for Hawaii teams.

FYI, I placed an order from DealExtreme on Jan 28th.

It's Feb 11th and I still haven't received my cables, despite paying EXTRA for fast shipment.

According to their site..."Maybe" they were packaged ready to be sent yesterday... So, it's a fat chance they'll get here in time to be installed on the robot. I probably now have to rush order my cables again locally. So much for saving a few dollars.

Just one more reason for supporting our local economy, even if it it a bit higher priced.
You don't have to worry about the chinese new-year stopping shipments for several weeks.

We're in the same boat. After realizing that the DealExtreme cables wouldn't get here in time, I placed an order with IFI, which shipped the same day.

Ordering in December seems like the way to go...
