How do we set the alliance color? We have the Get Alliance VI, but we aren't sure how to set what it gets (for testing or whatever).

How do they do it at competitions? I was maybe thinking through the competition port, but I'm not sure at all.

Anyone know?

If all else fails we can put a switch somewhere, but I rather eliminate humans from the equation.

It may be that your searching skills are rusty. http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=73015 discusses this very topic and is very much active.

Yeah, I found that, maybe I wasn't clear enough. That VI returns the alliance you are on, but where does it get that info from? How do you set that? We can use an external switch (like that thread discusses), but if we have that VI, there's no need.

I just can't find any documentation about how to set what it returns. It get's it from the driver station, how do I tell the DS what alliance I'm on (for testing purposes).

FIRST is working on a FMS lite version to allow just this sort of operation and testing. It is not yet ready for prime time... From Jan 26th, so it should be coming out soon? It is a good question -- can't test the alliance function without an alliance.
