My team went and bought 7/16 OSB to use to construct the crate. When reading 4.4.1.2 of the Robot Transportation manual, they started panicing and said we might not be able to ship because it isnt the exact type of board. I pointed out to them that it is the "Crate Should" section and that the size is close enough to use, but they want to make sure. Anyone able to verify any wiggle room in for crate materials?
The main thing is to make sure that the crate won't a) fall apart in transport and b) won't get crushed. Take a sample of the OSB material and get it wet. Does it maintain its properties of shape and strength? If not, don't use it. If yes, use caution.
Metal is allowed for crate construction, so there is a little wiggle room. However, even aluminum has been punctured by forklifts before. I could tell horror stories of teams whose crates fell apart/were damaged in the shipping process.
Bottom line is, you gotta make it solid as a rock.
If you still aren't sure, ask Q&A to verify.

Thanks a lot. That got the crate team working.
