The build season is slowly coming to an end, I just wanted to see how many teams are done and testing, if not how far along are you?

-Thanks Eddie

We are about a few days from "finish" with all mechanical components, but we still have a lot of work to do on code. We will also have to mount some sensors.

about to finish :)
We already stated testing few mechanisms.. a few tweaks and we're done
and then 2nd bot :P (easier once you're sure what you want :D)

Miss Daisy is up and running without her hopper.

Hmm...it sounds sort of improper when I put it like that.

Build season winding down?

I would imagine there are not a few teams that do more in the last week than in the first 5. :ahh:

Some teams are just getting around to starting robot #2!

Practice robot is done and in the books. It's now in the programming and strategy sub-teams' hands for autonomous development and practice.

Our team is so far behind. We still have to build most of the robot

All systems are up and running for 1923. We're in the run, practice, break, fix phase. I'm really trying to get it into my students' heads that engineering is a frustrating and rewarding iterative process. We have paneling, weight reduction, and cleanup left.

Don't tell me that, I am successfully tricking myself into thinking we have more time... I have an entire white board full of software we have to write still :(

Same with us. Our electrical team is REALLY SLOW with placing electronic on the base, and we still are fabricating the stuff for the shooter. Hopefully we can have it done Wednesday, and have a second robot to test while we wait for our first regional. And we still need to build our trailer and crate.

Yep, life is good.

The build season is slowly coming to an end...
Slowly?!? From my perspective it is moving toward us at an ever increasing speed!!! :ahh: So much to do, so little time! And it isn't just the robot! We have a rookie team to watch out for, Rochester Rally to put together, a crate to finish, Chairman's entry to perfect, trip plans to finalize...how does the end of build season sneak up on us every year!!! :yikes:

No, for us things are winding up and I'm getting that panic feeling.

If you put the 2AM nights at the beginning, you find yourself a LOT happier this time of year. All smiles here in G-ville.

we should have the drivetrain up and running by the end of tonight, hmmm i feel behind, but this happens to us every year, last year our robot shipped and couldn't even move, so we will be ahead.

Is there anyone that will be going with minimal complete robot practice time, like us?

We will likely end up in this scenario as well, based on where we are right now. We are hoping to have our turret weight low enough to have it withheld along with some electronics components so we can do the software tweaks of it in the time until our (week 6) regional.

well i wrote a whole list of things that needed to be completed on team 316's white board, and slowly but surely, things are getting crossed off. Our programming and bumpers are 2 of the major things that need more work.:yikes:

I'd estimate we have about 75% of the robot finished, but very roughly. I can't imagine us being done at least until next week. It's crunch time for us now.

winding down???????????? aaaahhh. yah my team only has a frame and a working transmition. haha we are behind everyone else, but we are on schedule in comparison to our team history.

I asked for the latest mechanical punch list, figuring a dozen items would be on it. Close to a full page of text came back. I'm going to go in and work on the "Time Stop Machine", I think I have a better chance of getting that done in the next week than I do the punch list.

I suppose the rest of us must envy those teams that have a week of practice with two robots. We're usually up until mid-night the day before shipping, and the robot's still not completely done.

Wait, we have to finish it?

dmoody92
04-02-2009, 17:11
Umm, this is our first year so we have a lot still to do. We basically have two main mechanics, one is done and the other one, we haven't even started yet. The programming is going well but still needs a lot of work...I hope we finish in time!!

Team 2410 is currently build the robot. We have the chassie done, and we are working on putting the supporting frame up

I know you've finished the first 75% of the robot, but do you have enough time left to finish the other 75%?

What is this word "done" of which you speak?

Herodotus

I know you've finished the first 75% of the robot, but do you have enough time left to finish the other 75%?

Well, I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Technically, the robot just "looks" 75% complete. In reality, each percent of that 75% is only half done as well.

Our prototypes are good and running, now just need to do some magic to transform all that wood to aluminum.

I know you've finished the first 75% of the robot, but do you have enough time left to finish the other 75%?

DONE??!! And we still have the 3rd 75% to finish!!!

Seriously, 70% done if we want to have a gathering/launching mechanism and 3000% if we're just going to drive...oh wait...that's ME that's 3000% done...I WANT SOME SLEEP!!!!

Two crates are done, and rookie team is coming to visit tomorrow!!! You can feel a little better at least ;)

But yes I agree... this build season is cooking along faster than I thought it would!! Heck Ice cream for breakfast and Breakfast for dinner day is only 3 days away!!!

I'm not sure what compelled us, especially as a rookie team, to want to construct the entire robot in Pro/Engineer before building, but we did. Unfortunately, our CAD team is a bit slow, so the fabrication team got most of the drawings this week. We've got a complete lower frame and upper superstructure - Now for the guts!

Unfortunately the if our team had 2am meetings at the begginning we would just be talking and nothing would be accomplished because we're trying to find the best design. Then we'd still have to build it in the same amount of time.

1245 has balls lifted, in the hopper and out of the hopper. At this point we are tweaking it for better performance.
