It looks like you guys tilt the back of the conveyor to disengage the balls from the conveyor, then rev the conveyor to full speed so that the motors can accelerate under no-load and then reengage to shoot them out. I love the design!

I knew there was a reason we decided to go to LA instead of Sacremento.

If only you'd come to Sac-Town...

I can see it now, you guys following us around slowly filling our trailer with that amazing turret. Then in the last second of the match, POW we score. Perfect 100-100 tie :D

Very nice! do you have automatic distance/speed adjustment?

That comes next. We're mounting a small lead-screw powered by a RS-545 to tilt the hood back and forth.

I'm not so big on the automatic part. I don't have much faith in programming, or cameras. We shall see.

Yup. By tilting it back we also engage our hopper, allowing the magazine to be HP loaded.

What kind of mechanism do you have to keep the balls in the holding area as you take some more off the floor?
I guess my real question is how many times a match will you be able to load 10 & actually shoot ten at a time?
Also, are you using the camera to target the goal, or just dead reckoning with a perfect line of sight to the goal?

That is in impressive in any case, I just am wondering how feasible it will be during a match to get 10 balls in there & score all ten.

First time ever running it. EVER. I swear.

Well, we'll have to wait and see, won't we? :)

In any case we don't have to shoot all the balls in the magazine. The intake/elevator is on a victor so we can vary the speed and only feed a few balls in at a time.

We are also adept at both ground and HP loading. So we should be able to reload fairly quickly... or pickup what we've already missed.

This is almost exactly our design.:D The only difference is that you guys have separated the balls in to independent columns which is probably more effective. Its always reassuring to share a design with a respected, competitive and veteran team.

I counted 3 seconds. The thread title is misleading.

Though, that is still amazing. Personally, I think this is an amazing robot and a great feat of engineering. But I still need to see it with a moving target before I can really tell how well it will do at a comp.

Good luck to your drivers. They have a great bot to drive, they just have to use plenty of finesse.

AdamHeard

I think it will be difficult to accurately align on a goal from that distance.

Also, how long does it take to load balls into that configuration? Can you only hold 10 balls?

I agree, all balls were shot in about 1 second, but there was clearly some "prep" that took time before the shooting.

This reminds me of the apocryphal question, "What caliber was the pistol?" If they're shooting into your trailer you probably won't care much whether it was one or three seconds...

Nice robot. I've watched this team at Portland before and they are always competitive. Good job.

It makes a lot of difference if they are repeatedly shooting you. Also, If you can tell their robot is going to shoot in two seconds, you might be able to use this to help dodge. Again, nothing against the design it is awesome. Just that when you are the prey, ever second matters.

Well, we won't be competing with them at regionals ;) .

I'd be much more afraid of a robot that lines up, then can immediately shoot 10 in a second.

A robot that has to line up, then go 1, 2, shoot 10, doesn't scare me one bit.

I think it will be difficult to accurately align on a goal from that distance.

I most certianly agree with you on that. Which is why we can tilt the hood down and spew them in at point blank.

We wanted to do a dumper this year. The downside to dumpers is that they can be slow. And slow is not good in a game where the goals move :) If you can't fill a trailer fast, they'll get away.

Also, how long does it take to load balls into that configuration? Can you only hold 10 balls? I agree, all balls were shot in about 1 second, but there was clearly some "prep" that took time before the shooting.

What kind of prep? We just dumped them in the hopper (which is something we could do in a match) and shot them out...

We can also pick them up from the ground.

We'll have to wait and see how long it takes to collect 10 balls in a lunacy match. Our team is betting it will take quite a bit of time. I'm highly doubtful many teams will collect 20+ balls on average.

I think your design is absolutely brilliant.

My only question is: Can you chose to only shoot some of the balls you have loaded?

It might seem like a dumb question, but there may or may not be a situation where you might not want to shoot all ten balls you have loaded.

A robot that has to line up, then go 1, 2, shoot 10, doesn't scare me one bit.

While I see what your saying here, I am just as scared of a robot that can shoot 10 immediately, or one that goes 1, 2 shoot 10.

While you may be able to dodge them a few times, all it takes is one mistake by you to allow them the split second it takes to align and unleash all the balls. The fact that they can unload balls that quickly makes them a scary team, plain and simple.

This doesnt just apply to team 100 (although this is a great bot), it applies to any team who has the ability to fill a trailer that quickly.

Just my opinion. I'm sure there will be strategies against robots like this one, but I am just giving credit where it is due to a team who completed a very nice robot with a week or so remaining, and was willing to share their design pre-ship. Kudos to 100.

I love the design guys! Great work!

Looks pretty similar to ours except ours moves the wall behind the belt back instead of moving they conveyor. Ours also has a fast spinning shooter at the top.

What kind of belt are you using? It looks like only two small black belts in the video, but I am guessing I am mistaken. What kind of velocities are you getting with the conveyor?
