vex encoder works with innovation first?

hello everyone,
im using the vex encoder:

my question is can the encoder work with (using mp lab) innovation first 18f8520?
a guide or a short explanation will help alot.

Yes. It will work.

The encoder has a 5V digital output and the IFI controller has a 5V digital input.

I don't know what else to say...
