Team Twitter Accounts [Archive]

So I have searched around and haven't found any thread about teams having their own twitter accounts. I found this odd because many teams are getting twitter accounts to keep in touch with other teams indirectly. To keep track of all of the teams I have set up a simple hashtag to create a list of all teams.

With your teams twitter just post Team XXXX #frcteamlist

Then once some people post with that hashtag simpily look here (http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23frcteamlist) to find all the teams that have a twitter (and are on CD :) ).

Hopefully this will catch on as it's the fastest way for a team to communicate with the ever expanding masses.

I've been blogging every day about something FIRST related, and at our district event in Traverse City last weekend I Twittered from the competition.

You should set up a twitter account for your team then. If at least one member from your team tweets, than they can show the others in the team how to use the team's.

Team 1646 has a twitter account (http://twitter.com/1646). It is updated almost constantly while were at a competition. Parents love this new addition to the website.

We use our site for updates during competition and to give updates on what we are doing at a certain meeting. Unfortunately not many team members check the twitter, but parents find it useful.

Can you get Team 1646 to update their twitter with the #hashtag post so they can be included in the team list?

Team 1511 is at http://twitter.com/1511 but so far I haven't been able to get a student excited about posting (and have plenty to do with my own business that I wasn't able to take it over myself). Perhaps next year :)

Figured we'd revive this and get things going, as I am sure this list will be far longer now than 2 years ago. 1622 Team Spyder has a new twitter account, @frc1622

If teams want to again post a tweet with #frcteamlist in it, we can get that updated, as the old search results are no longer active.

We update it within 5 minutes of a match ending, occasionally with little bits of info about what the pit crew and drive team are up to at the moment.

Usually in the format of:
Match XX, Teams XXX, YYY, ZZZ v AAA, BBB, CCC. Win/Loss, Score, other info.

I still really like the standard format for FRC, FTC twitter accounts. Please think of using it. FRCXXXX, FTCXXXX. This way if there is a team that we would like to follow, it is easy to find them.

Also, with enough views we would see it on the youtube front page and spread the word of FIRST, FRC and how important it is to people.

Just a heads up, it seems that as of tonight, a bunch of FRC team twitter accounts have been hacked to send a "Omg does this picture look like you?" or something spam link, so (obviously) if you get one, don't click it. I've probably gotten three or four on our team's twitter account (http://twitter.com/xtremeheat223)

I've gotten over twenty today between my personal account and the team account. Folks must be clicking on the links otherwise it couldn't spread.

And I'm sorry, but the irony here is simply too great not to post:
