Let's see....Fairfield Inn by Marriott on SR26?

Looks like you've got a decent amount of manpower there. I'm jealous. I've got 4 or 5 to work with for sure, and I'll probably pull in anyone who's not pit crew or drive team or HP. We're also not very organized, since I haven't been able to get the manpower I would like on such short notice.

Just a couple questions. What are the pictures that we can see in the front there? And what do you mean by 4 Tiers?

That's the scout and drive teams. The pictures are of every robot.

We rank the teams into 4 levels:

1st tier: Killer Robots (8bots)
2nd tier: Best Robots (8 bots)
3rd tier: Good 2nd pick bots (8-12 bots)
4th tier: No way bots. (the rest)

Then we rank the teams within each tier.

Looks very similar to what ours, as well as many other teams, do for many many hours into the night. Good scouting is the key to winning as we found out at the Midwest regional when we pick a team pretty far down on the list after declining the 2nd seed, and went on to take 2nd.

Let's see. 380 miles from Fairfield Inn...

Nah, I'm not good enough with directions and stuff to play that game.

An hour and a half to make your tiers isn't bad... I think we took about that long to make our tiers at Arizona. Our friday night scouting meetings usually take a while, and I thought this year's meeting at AZ was fairly quick at a mere 2.5 hours. We still hadn't finalized our list by then, it needed more work the next day. Plus another half an hour of debate before alliance selections... I sometimes think that scouting takes more work than actually building a robot.

yeah, I missed the "at Buckeye" in Pat's post.

One of these days I'm going to have to learn how to read.

That's not a bad idea actually. I've just got my system automatically rating everybody by OPR DPR and WM, but that's pretty cool.
On a totally random note, I am wiped out today

Be sure not to really solely on OPR, DPR, and WM. There will be several "diamonds in the rough" so to say, that may have a ridiculously difficult schedule and should definitely not be counted out. Also, driving and human player play such a monstrous part of the game this year...

Reading can help in robotics competitions, sometimes even in life ... I know it shocked me too.

You've got a point there. I'm trying as hard as I can to keep track of more qualitative data, but my scout team right now is VERY inexperienced, and we're having a lot of trouble keeping up with it.

Wow I wish we could get done that fast!

We struggle to keep our strategy session under 3 hours (it usually ends up being 3.5-4hrs and ends past midnight, much to Mrs. P's chagrin....)
