I was just wondering about any epic supercell shots. If you heard about one let us know. Also a lot of videos are on the blue alliance website. So let us know what regional and what match they happended in.

http://www.thebluealliance.net/tbatv/

One sweet one happend at the very end of this match. It was a quarterfinal at the Arizona Regional. It was a half court+ shot that went from the corner past the opposite outpost. The buzzer went off while the supercell was in the air.....I saw it live and thought it was pretty epic. The throw comes from the right side of the screen about 2:10 into the video.

1676 threw a really awesome one. I think it was at the end of QF1-2. Our HP was throwing it from the home fueling station- it went up!...and hit the projectors hanging from the ceiling. Suffice it to say, it didn't score...but it was one of the funniest things all year.

To everyone at the Boilermaker regional, I don't think I need to say more.

To everyone else watch the final match of the competition. It was defiantly epic.

Sorry to the poor guy from 234 :( that sank the winning shot for the other team.

There were two epic shots I saw

They were both at GTR

Most epic good shot: match 3 finals
Most epic bad shot: Last two seconds a guy threw a super cell and it hit the wall barrier and bounced back and hit him in the face.

At the Florida regional, in the last seconds of the match a human player chucks a super cell across the entire court and come short by about 4 feet...

But it bounced off the ground, a robot, and the center post of the goal ending up in the goal winning the match... i was watching it from the stands and couldn't believe this guys luck

An epic supercell shot from the Palmetto regional came from our throw. Last 5 seconds of the match our thrower chucked one halfway across the field and put it in the trailer pushing our winning score to 104. It was epic!

Sure it went into the wrong trailer, but the shot was AMAZING! He is such a good HP.

Seattle Regional and I believe our alliance partners were 3070 and 1510 (Wild Cats). It was in the final seconds and the shooter of the WildCats lets loose a long shot super cell from the far leftand makes it which helped us pull ahead and win the round :yikes:

I came and visited BMR on saturday... even though my team won b/c of it even I felt bad for the 234 guy.

I couldnt believe it when I saw it happen... I saw it fly from the blue station and thought 'ok, thats it, we're done for.' then I noticed the trailer was green over red...

You still rock 234 human. Hope you guys are going to Atlanta and have good luck!

Match 3 finals, Blue leading for the upset. Supercell bounces off another robot and into Blue trailer 2 seconds left. Red wins 97 - 90 and wins GTR. One of the best finishes I have seen but seeing that I am on Team 188, one of the worst at the same time.

Cyber Blue earned their invitation to the FRC Championship this year with a Regional Chairman's Award in DC. Oh, and they won the robot competition there too. :)

This is the only mistake I have seen him make. His shooting percentage has to be in the high 80's if not 90's.

234 still has the "big one" to go after in ATL, trust me, they'll be a contender.

I agree. Word of advice for teams competing against 234, stay far away from their human player.

We have actually had a lot of team discussion on "that match" and "that shot".

Bottom line is the red alliance won the match and the regional 2 -1. Blue alliance got outscored in 2m:15s of play, not in the last 2 seconds.

Our HP took the shot because the match was very close, and we could not take the risk on the real time scoring accuracy. That is part of the excitement of competition.

And, we have already said, in the same situation again, take that shot. We have a lot of faith and confidence in his judgement and his ability.

Funny things is, half of my team (461) didn't know he had scored on our alliance when it happened... :o
As everyone else that was there has said, he made a great shot. That super cell went straight in, no bouncing around.
He was the best HP at Boilermaker (Wildstang's HP gets a honorable mention) and I'll bet he will redeem himself in Atlanta.

Regardless, it was great to see my team to have a chance to play with teams 234 and 45, and congrats again to 1024, 868, and 292. I wish all of them good luck at the Championships, only wish I could be going with them.

I have an EPIC FAIL supercell shot.

One that came in the last 2 seconds, immidiatly after the only empty cell in the thrower's vacinty has been thrown by him.

Watch at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9EQxtRJgE0 from 2:07

Final score was 66:65 to the Red alliance that got scored by the super cell.

At FLR, Quarter Final 3 Match 1,(Red) 191,173 ,1503 VS (Blue) 1511, 316, 340.

Blue is down 62 to 83 in the closing seconds. 1503 gets tied up with 1511 and 1511 makes a nice move to pin and 340 moves in behind to fully pin them.

340 Human player, drains TWO super cells on 1503, one of which bounced in off the top of 1511's trailer to win the match 92-83. It was epic.

I'll work on getting a video up. You Rock Ben!

Team 2022 at the Midwest Regional. This girl was a BEAST, and she is basically the reason why we had the only win against the 1625/111 super alliance in all of elims. She drained a 40 footer shot during the Semi's, not to mention another one previously in the quarter-finals.

I have to agree to this one, and we were on the winning in. I did not see it go in and, even after the match, had thought we loss.

I remember thinking that he had gotten into score (he is so accurate, how could he not? after watching him take shot after shot all weekend and not miss) for his own team because of the cheers that erupted afterwards. Such an epic match....even with the results, I still believe 234's human player is the one to beat out there.

The shot wasn't epic but in one of the semifinal matches in Boston a HP on the blue alliance shot a super cell, it missed then rolled across the field into the red alliance outpost station where our HP picked it up scored it.

Was pretty funny to see

One of the kids from the Brazilian team (1772) sank one heck of a shot during practice rounds - from the blue corner he tossed it across at least 3/4 of the field - diagonally - to sink it in the last 3 seconds. I went to him to congratulate him, but he didn't speak English. One of his teammates translated. He said Thank You in English.

My favorite Supercell moment happened in match 12 of the OKC regional.
In the last 10 seconds of the match, us and our alliance partner (1742 Shockwave) pushed 2763 into the corner, so 1742's human player could score a supercell at the buzzer.
I haven't seen that kind of robot teamwork in any of the matches before or after.
Its kind of hard to see in the video, but if you look closely enough, you can see us both pushing at the same time at 2:14 in the video.

congrats to 1742 on the regional win, and thanks to 2763 for being such great competitors!

Not a direct link, you'll need to download it.

Our human player made a super cell with 5 seconds left that ended up winning th match for our alliance. It was a close match the whole time, and the trailer it went into may not have been moving, but it was still indeed a clutch shot.

http://www.thebluealliance.net/tbatv/vids/09va/va_qm41.mp4

Also, how could I forget our very first match. It was once again a very close match, which because of 9 penalties, appeared as a blow out. Our human player made this shot almost halfway across the field. In fact, you get a great overhead shot of it with seven seconds left. Once again, you need to download it to see it.

this wasn't a super cell shot but during the philly regional Moe's, 365, human player shot a moon rock on to the top of their robot's trailer town and got it to stay for a few seconds.

our human player during the philly regional had two back to back super cell shots at half court range. nothing really exciting about it though happened 10 seconds left in the match and we where up anyway if i remember

Most memorable moment of 2009 for me so far. Such a great finish. Ben's awesome! I hope we're in the same division in Atlanta this year. It would be great to work with you guys again. Maybe we could even make an all-Rochester alliance :D

Wasn't "epic" so much as slightly comical. One of the last matches (don't recall which) at DC one alliance tossed a SC and it missed. Then it just rolls right in to the refueling station of the opposing alliance. The HP there did not even notice it for a few seconds. He finally picked it up w/ about 2 seconds to spare and tossed it over the top and in.

We also had one match (in eliminations) at Chesapeake with 3 (yes three) SC's scored by one side in a match.

The SC's sure did flip many a score at the last second.

Match 42 at the LA Regional had a pretty cool supercell shot.

In the last second a shooter on our alliance shot a supercell and made it in AT the buzzer. We didn't win....but it was pretty neat.

Though I doubt anyone saw it/was paying attention, our human player during one of the practice matches at Cass Tech took a running start, threw a Super-Cell from the fueling station, had it bounce once, and land in a trailer in the starting position on the other side.

Needless to say, we cheered. XD

I can't remember if it was a SC or not, but...
In qualifying matches at GTR, 1334's HP threw a ball that bounced off the crater edge and into the trailer of the bot I was scouting.

Pretty awesome.

At Chesapeake 2199 human player would score the supper cell on a trailer in the far corner of the field. Every match we played against them it seemed he would sink a supper cell in us.

We were watching the CT regional from school- If I remember correctly it was a really early match- like number 3 or something
Threw a super cell basically across the whole field, and scored. It was close, but I dont remember it changing the outcome.

We had a similar thing happen at Michigan State seeding matches, except we were on the receiving end. It was either match 3 or 4 and the scores were pretty close. I don't remember if the opposing team threw the super cell or just rolled it out but it didn't go in. Then 217s bot grabbed the super cell, moved in behind us and scored the super cell along with about 4 additional moon rocks into our trailer. Needless to say we had no similar maneuver and lost by about thirty points. Totally epic though.

I've seen the Thunderchickens do that maneuver before. Their payload specialist at the refueling station will roll the super cell out out of air lock and the mad clucking machine will swing by and pick it up on the fly. Then they have a great record of finding a trailer and making the super cell count ;)

In one of the semifinal matches at the Silicon Valley Regional, it was coming down to the final few seconds and the opponent human player threw a super cell towards a trailer. The super cell landed just short of the trailer but right in the path of 971, who scooped it up and scored it in the trailer right as the buzzer rang. We won that match with a score of 121-10.

The best shot that I saw hands down was with the Bobcat Robotics (177) while we were paired with them in the Newton semifinals. Their human player made the shot at the buzzer, and the trailer was touching the opposing player station. The supercell bounced of a robot, the ground and then went in the trailer.
