Hmm,.. Autodesk usually announces the 5 finalists in the Design Competition about 2 weeks before the Championship. Nothing on FIRSTbase yet.

Has anybody heard anything?

I think they wait until all the regionals are done and all the regional winners are announced.

Do you have to win your regional to be considered as one of the six finalists or do they look at all of them?

You don't have to win a Regional to be one of the 5 finalists. I know because last year we lost the Regional :( but later were chosen as a finalist :D

There is no voting this year (thank goodness). Industry professionals from Autodesk will select the overall winner.

i have a question that doesn't pertain to animation but to the top 5 for inventor. on the Firstbase.com website it says:
The winner will be announced during The 2009 FIRST Competition Championship Awards Ceremony.

When does this take place? saturday afternoon is what i think of normally but on of my team members told me it might be friday morning.

It appears that the awards will be saturday after the matches, it looks to be 4ish - 5
