Why are you the only one going from the team?

You're always welcome to hang out with 503 Frog Force in Archimedes. We'll all probably be busy scouting or working in the pits, but feel free to stop us if you see us and join in on the fun.

I've been to a bunch of competitions without my team so I know from experience how interesting that can be when you don't have that bond & group of friends to be a part of when your team is there.

My bast advice is to sign up in VIMS to volunteer in some way while you're in Atlanta.
Being part of a competition from another perspective like volunteering is one of the most interesting ways you can see a competition.
Oh, & the free meals don't hurt! :p

But seriously, there are a ton of positions to fill in Atlanta, & while not all of them are glamorous (not everyone can be an MC or work on Einstein doing field reset & chill there up close & personal during the finals) all volunteer positions are critical to keeping the weekend running smooth!

Try it out. You'll enjoy it - I can almost guarantee it!

Dwayne:

This would be a great opportunity to hang out with some other world class teams. 3119 could really use some perspective. Make sure you swing by the Chairman's hall of fame and talk with some of those out of State teams too. While hanging out with the Frogs is a great idea, check out 45 from Indiana, 111 from Chicago, and a ton of the east coast teams. Also swing by 100 and thank them for a really cool 2006 bot.

By all means you can hang with the Bees, but you can do that back in Detroit.

Volunteering is a great idea. So is visiting the Hall of Fame teams. You should also stop by the display with all of colleges that want to give you scholarships! I'd recommend stopping by different pits to learn about some teams and their robots, as well as to meet new people. You're definitely welcome to visit team 1124.

Look for a girl in a yellow UPS (team 1675) cape, a tube skirt, a ultility belt, and any other form of team spirit. While thats not me because I will be busy running around the pits and to and fro matches, she loves meeting people. If you really want a work-out, follow her around for a day.

BTW: Her name is Renee

Team 65 is always open for people to join us. We will be in Galileo.

You are welcome to come hang out with Team 68, we are in Curie.

i would really recommend volunteering though, if we weren't competing there, that is what i would do:cool:

I think you'd have more trouble finding a team that would reject you then a team that would welcome you. Your Atlanta experience is what you make out of it. You could hang with one team, but I would agree with IKE check out all the world class teams, walk around the pits, I can't stress enough for important it is to talk to EVERYONE you meet, check out some of the presentations. You can hang with a team at any regional and have a blast, but only in Atlanta can you see the internal workings of the best of the best, the hall of fame, the amazing robots. FIRST at its finest. And if you get bored (somehow) come chill with me in 27's pit.

I haven't seen these two ideas here yet: Scholarship Row and the CD Webhug.

Scholarship Row gives you a chance to talk to colleges about paying for college. Some of these scholarships are FIRST-only, so this is the best place to talk about them.

The CD Webhug gives you a chance to find a team to adopt you for a few days. Plus meet all the folks that are on CD in person, or many of them.

Thanks, feel free to join in on the chaos and amusement in our stands too, maybe you can bring some new dance moves along with you (we need some work). I promise it will be just as loud if not louder than state.

I knew I forgot something. Scholarship row will be a great way to find out about colleges and help you figure out where you want to go. Maybe you can bother my brother at the Kettering booth too.

I'm not sure if I can make the webhug this year (I'll probably forget), but I made it at IRI and it was certainly worth it. Most of the people you've talked to on CD or who have answered your questions will be there. Eric pretty much covered it.

Nope, I won't be at the Championship. College comes first.

(Side note: If anyone comes through Rapid City, I'm on the South Dakota School of Mines campus, at least until around Mother's Day.)

Feel free to find me in the Autodesk Booth. I'm our team's walk around magician(driver and animator as well), so I should be easy to find XD.
