About what time should teams arrive? The only problem for us is the travel time, other than that I should expect us to be signed up soon!
About what time should teams arrive? The only problem for us is the travel time, other than that I should expect us to be signed up soon!
We would love to see Mort return to Ramp Riot!
Opening ceremony is at 8:45 - 9:00 AM
First match goes off at 9:00 AM Sharp
The doors open at 7 AM and practice matches run from 7:15 - 8:30 AM.
We usually design the practice schedule based on travel distance, so you would be towards the end anyway. (Farther going last) But if you miss your practice it is OK. As long as we know you are on the way to the event, we will put you in the match schedule.
Hope you can make it!

Man, Ramp Riot is always so much fun! I can't wait to show what 423 is made of!
BTW, our team name isn't SCR (is that for Springfield Cheltenham Robotics?) anymore; in fact, it never was. We're called The Simple Machines now; we actually came up with that idea during Ramp Riot 2008, which is kind of funny when you think about it.

Yes. We will most likely use the webcast system from last year. The system worked well for our first try and I am sure we will look at improvements.

Have you guys thought about any rule changes for Ramp Riot? I am a huge fan of the changes for the Robo Showdown (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77591) in TX.

Phil:
Have not thought about it too much yet, but I am sure we will make a few changes. Generally we try to make only the changes to things that drove everyone crazy during the regular season. (i.e. 2008 line violations)
We want to keep the game as close to original as possible.
We will most likely eliminate G-14, but we will probably not make a final rules document until early September. I will take a look at the thread you suggested.
Thanks!

what ftc game is going to be scrimmaged?? the 2008 game "face off" or the new one that will be announced in september?
It will definitely be the new FTC game. The object of the RR scrimmage is always to prepare the teams (mostly NJ teams) for their upcoming FTC regionals.
Hope to see you there!

It's too bad Dustin graduated - he was one of the best drivers in 2009. Here's hoping he's taught his understudies well.

Ramp Riot was my first FIRST i will remember the spirit to this day and i have been hocked ever since. Unfortunately team 75 could not make it to Ramp Riot the last two years. But we are back and i am so happy that my last match driving on the regolith, and my last time driving in an off-season competition will be at Ramp Riot. The team list looks amazing, it will be a great time.

We are very excited that Rolling Thunder is coming to RR 2009! Your team was really fun when you came to the Philly regional and I know you'll pump up the energy level at Ramp Riot.
If you want to volunteer, we can definitely use some experienced refs. Just go to www.team341.com and fill out the online volunteer form.

Hello all Ramp Riot Teams!
Opening Video Help:
Each year we produce an opening video to honor our participating teams. Please send your team pictures of your students, robots, important team moments from '09, etc. to:
rampriot@team341.com
Also, if you have video files, we can try our best to include them too. Please either send a download link to rampriot@team341.com or mail us a DVD (mail them to: Alan Ostrow, Wissahickon HS, 521 Houston Road, Ambler, PA 19002). Videos must be a minimum of SD video quality at 720px wide. Preferred formats include: .mov, .mp2, .mp4, .avi. (Unacceptable formats include: .wmv)
We want to include everyone in the opening video and truly honor the attending teams! Please be sure to send us your stuff!
We would love to have all of your media by Oct. 16th so act now!
See you at Ramp Riot!

Yikes! This is today! I'm sure my team will want to submit something, but I'm not sure they saw this request. We'll put someone on it asap!
The opening video is one of the most wonderful parts of the event. We start off the day right by brining down the house lights and honoring our participating teams on the field. Be a part of it by submitting pictures and videos that best represent your team.
Thanks!

Mike Wade Memorial Award and Canned Food Drive
Please consider bringing as many canned food products as possible to Ramp Riot for our 8th annual food drive. All donations go directly to the Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard to support meals for deserving families in the region.
Last year we collected about 800 cans, with about 300 coming from Team 365.
Additionally we will present our Third Annual Mike Wade Memorial Award. This beautiful eagle trophy is given in honor of the team that contributes the most canned goods.
Mike Wade was a pioneer of the East Coast off-season events. He gave so much to FIRST and too children everywhere. So let's lets give back to others, in honor of all that he did for us.
So students: Help your busy coaches by organizing a can collection for your team.
Thanks!

Thank you to all of the teams, volunteers, parents, and special visitors who made the 10th edition of Ramp Riot live up to its billing!
I want to offer even more thanks to some special people who lent exceptional advice and help in getting our field up and running while avoiding most of the problems that plagued some off season events this year. Our only major hiccup was when somebody tripped over my computer's power cable and I had to reboot FMS. We were scheduled to finish elimination rounds at 5:00PM; I shut down FMS after Finals match 2 at 4:59 :D
Jeff Downs - Your knowledge and insight into running a FIRST field is unparalleled! Thanks for all of the emails, software, and phone calls that got us ready to run!
Pete Kieselbach - You are one of the major reasons why Ramp Riot works. Whether an FTA, referee, or head ref, you run events the way they are supposed to be run. We announced this when giving Pete a well-deserved volunteer award, but just so the Chief Delphi community knows it: On Pete's Ramp Riot Volunteering Form, under "Why would you like to volunteer?", he answered "Because I don't learn from my mistakes".
Ron Karpinski - Thanks for all of your help setting up and verifying that things were working, and for making sure that everybody had working WPA.
Rob Thate and NASA GSFC - Like I told Rob, anybody can bring a PC to run the field, but not everybody has a full FIRST field in their truck. We can never repay our debt to NASA and Rob for helping us out each and every year.

Team 2791 would like to thank 341 for putting on a great event. We would also like to thank team 1511 for giving us a transmission to fix our intake, and teams 834 and 1218 for winning the event with us. Can't wait to return next year!
Jack
Team 1511 is home safe from the event and also wants to thank Team 341 for their hospitality! It was fun to play with some old friends and some new friends! It was a great chance for our students to mix up the drive teams, and to give the beta test system a tryout.
I had a great time as a referee, but boy, are my feet tired!
Today, four of the five car loads (one had to get home earlier) headed into Philadelphia and took the chance to see the Liberty Bell and a few of the sights within walking distance. I had a chance to go a little farther south and sample a Geno's cheese-steak!
Now you all need to come up and see us!

Sounds good to me! I would love to go back to my "other home" (RIT alum :) )
On behalf of MOE 365, we want to thank Miss Daisy and all Ramp Riot volunteers for a terrific event. It's great to have been around to see this event grow, from the 8 teams during year one, to the multi-faceted event it is today.
Congratulations on Ten Years of Ramp Riot!
Also, thanks to NASA, Wissahickon High School, and all the sponsors which made this event possible!
On the competition side, congrats to the winners and finalists and thanks to teams 768 and 1511 for running the Regolith with us.
For us and for most, this event puts a cap on Lunacy for 2009. Best of luck to all teams with our upcoming 2010 FIRST challenge.
I also want to say thanks to Miss Daisy for running such a great event. The FRC contest was great, our team had one of our best off-season performances.
It was nice to have a pit next to 1511 to learn all of their secrets (and to hang out with my sister :) Even though the space is packed with robots there are great site lines in the stands to watch the action.
I also liked the other robot stuff going on from the public drive area to the FTC competition in the back hall. Thanks for letting us be part of the outreach to the Girl Scout "Girls in Gear" program. They loved driving the VEX robots in the game we set up. Some of those Daisy Scouts (1 and 2nd graders) were pretty amazing at the controls.
Thanks for setting up control system presentations. It's nice to see and talk to the beta guys to be able to plan ahead.
And finally, thanks for flying in Andy Baker. It was cool to meet the man that is the myth (or is it the legend?) of so many stories.
See you next year!

My daughter designed and implemented this program for her silver award in 2008 and it grew into something bigger. :)
Here is a link to a very descriptive white paper.

You can also send an email to the organizers at girls.in.gear@gmail.com
We can provide written materials, give away patches, and advice about the timing and activities. We are also working on demonstration boards and videos.
Just an FYI, none of the materials have the Team 341 logo on it and we encourage local teams to personalize their materials. We want this to be a stand alone program strictly for the benefit of the scouts and the teams involved.

Jane:
My daughter designed and implemented this program for her silver award in 2008 and it grew into something bigger. :)
Here is a link to a very descriptive white paper.

You can also send an email to the organizers at girls.in.gear@gmail.com
We can provide written materials, give away patches, and advice about the timing and activities. We are also working on demonstration boards and videos.

Got it.
I'll forward this to the lead mentor. Girl Scouts are bringing amazing assets, attitudes, and abilities to this program. Thank you, Al! Please tell your daughter, thank you.

Thank you so much for being a Ref, just when we needed help. 1511 really helped with some very important aspects of our event. (Particularly, Jeff Downs with the control system)
It was also just fun to have Rolling Thunder at Ramp Riot. Thanks very much for attending and volunteering.
Here are the Official Awards for the FTC Scrimmage at Ramp Riot 2009.

Do you guys have the individual qualification and elimination match results, because it might be cool to get up on TBA. If you dont, maybe you could integrate that next year as a new "feature." That would be kind of neat.
Jack
Hey Miss Daisy 341!
Great job! I found that Ramp Riot was another success this year! The freshman on our team were in AWE of your awesome set up. They loved it, the excitement, the cheering, the fun! It was awesome!
Your video opening was great too, thanks for using the picture of 103 with our fishie faces and tongues out! It made us all laugh!
Good Job guys!

I would like to know the team rankings with all win/loss records and ranking points too, if that's available!
I kept record of most of the qualifying and elimination scores, but not all of them. They wouldn't be official, either, so I don't think I could help you there, Jack.
But I, for one, would love to see the results of Ramp Riot up on Blue Alliance! That's the best website ever!!! :D
Thanks,
Scoutin' Master
