We are starting the migration of pictures from an old website to our new (and much improved website)

We are trying to put good captions on the pictures. I'm wondering about putting names on the pictures.

Do you put full names: Homer Simpson attaching the CIMS to the Toughboxes.

First Only: Homer cutting out the side supports

Initials: HS bolting down the transmission

Partials: Homer S at Chesapeake at the drivers station?

Some other schemes? Do you do the same for Students and Mentors?

Thanks!

We generally don't even caption our pictures, but if we were to caption our pictures, then I would definitely only use first name.

definitely just use first names, and if you are going to caption a pic then say a short line about what it is unless its completely obvious

Chris is me

The main reason you wouldn't use the full name on a picture is privacy concerns. Some teams don't list last names on their website (even though it's terribly easy to find someone's last name on the Internet, mostly a courtesy measure).

Other things to consider include how you would read the picture when showing it to someone. "Oh, there's Chris yelling at the drive team". It could potentially be strange to use the full name, unless the picture's purpose is to introduce someone.

Our team uses partials. Like Brendan B is sleeping on the drill press .... again.:p
