View Full Version : Things to do in Indianapolis
Ok, this is a bit different then the other similar threads. The difference is I've lived in Indy for a year now and still don't know anything fun to do here without spending a ton of money.
I'm looking for stuff to do for a few days just to get out of the house and have a little fun. Keep in mind I'm a college kid, so please try to keep cost in mind.
I really need to get out of the house more and need ideas for things to do with a friend or two. If anyone can throw out suggestions, they will all be appreciated.

King Tut is at the Children's Museum
Too late for this year but N.I.T.E. ride is a fun event usually held in June. (Biking through downtown at night with 2500 other riders)
Monon Trail/Canal Tow Path/White River Green way
Mountain bike trails
There is alot of free music if you look around. I know sunday's in carmel there is free jazz on the monon.
I spend most of my spare time on a bike if you can't tell.

Great Times Family Fun Park (http://www.greatimesfunpark.com/) is awesome! A few friends and I went there last Friday for their $12 all you can ride go-karts and had an absolute blast. They have putt putt, bumper boats, 3 go kart tracks, batting cages and a 2 story arcade. This place definitely does NOT have an age limit, young and old will love this place.
People-watch at Monument Circle, Broadripple, White River State Park
About every weekend, there's a free concert at the White River Gardens.
Doublecheck my dates, but I'm fairly sure the first Thursday of the month is free at the Children's Museum 4-8; same for the zoo on the first Monday? There's probably a similar deal for the State Museum, but I don't know when. I think the NCAA Hall of Champions is free regardless of day.
Check local periodicals & Indy Star for free local events
Conservatory at Garfield Park

I'll be the first to admit that i still enjoy the Children's Museum, even though I haven't gone in a long time.
Something that you might look into also is if Lucas Oil Stadium gives tours. I've only been inside once before, and it's absolutely amazing.
