River Rage 13 has a venue change!
FIRST's longest running offseason event is BACK at Manchester Memorial High School! RiverRage was last held here in 2006 and it is a great place for an event with an easy trek to the pits, and lots of room for all you awesome people!
If you haven't signed up yet, get going! www.riverrage.org

This is also the location of the 1992 event (since there was only one). Memorial is a great facility for River Rage; plenty of pit space, great gym with lots of seating, easy access and parking for teams, and great traffic flow around the building.
I can't wait for lucky number 13!

YESSSS!!!! :D
<looks for like button> lol
See everyone there!
Knowing River Rage as I do it's hard not to wonder if perhaps they should have just skipped 13 and move right along to 14? The 13th on Halloween no less! Should be an interesting show.
Good luck all!

Awww man, I loved trekking the robot up the steep ramp at Central :p It was really fun with a jogging head start and big wheels. At least there is more space. Can't wait!!!:)

The Ramp is actually at West, not Central. If we had it at Central there would be elevators involved in the queuing!
All of the Manchester schools have been very generous with their support. Without them we would still be where RiverRage began, in a tent next to DEKA. We're very excited for #13!

Hmm... I did not know that.
Sounds like a trip though!
/me wonders if anyone has pics of RR1 in said tent they could post here? :)

I couldn't remember, and just took a wild guess. It seems like it's in the center of manchester so Central would fit the catagory, but then again, i'm homeschooled so what would i know about public school.

Rules clarification please:
- Each alliance will be given 60 playing balls allocated as follows: 20 balls to Team A and 20 balls to Team B.
- Each robot can load a MAXIMUM of 10 balls, with the remaining balls divided between the two teams as they see fit for their strategy.
So the way I read this is: each team gets a "stockpile" of 20 for their HP, and the remaining twenty are either loaded into the robots (max 10 apiece) or are added to the team's stockpiles of 20 each.
In other words, the "60" is NOT a typo, correct? The wording of this as two rules rather than one may be confusing to some (like me ;)).
In any case, many thanks! We're looking forward to it!

My pre-rookie team 3125 is extremely interested in competing at this event.
Would there be anyway that we could use a teams spare robot or a team that is not competing's robot for this event?
Is it possible to post the teams attending River Rage 13? If so thank you very much.

I know i can't wait, still debating between what costume to where, and also i am currently trying to find the perfect costumes for the drive team
One more thing, i know that the roster on the river rage website is incomplete, as our team is not listed, as are a few others i know arent listed, can we get that updated roster a few days before competition, for scouting purposes?

Thanks Dan! Your team contact will recieve a team list beforehand, and I'll see if I can get it posted here.
Dan makes an excellent point - Don't forget to bring your costume!!! RiverRage gives awards to the best costume and to best robot costume.

WAIT!!! so there will be 126 and some team 78 126 wannabes.... great.
rtfgnow: Last year there was a webcast (a webcam in the corner of the field) but several of our team members watched and it was good enough to see the matches. It would be nice to have one this year, but nothing is on the website about it. PM jessica and ask her about it.

Currently nothing (I'm going as a FIRSTer :p )
But i was thinking about dying my hair blue and wearing my hawaiian shirt from Bash at the Beach (i think i will just cuz) just wear something besides team shirt. But the stuff i was going to use my friend had used and couldn't get it out for a couple days after showering a lot so... if I don't get it out by Sunday morning, my mother will kill me so I decided not to risk it and not dye my hair.
Any hints Dan?

After reading Bill's Blog, I was interested in knowing which teams are planning on running their robot using Java at River Rage.
And you know, we would have loved to have come to River Rage with our robot. But it wasn't destined for this year. But maybe at least some of us can come, enjoy the game and ask some questions about programming in Java.
Thanks!

It was great to visit with friends at River Rage today. There were many interesting things to see and talk about today. I believe a few teams were running their robots on JAVA tests. The 2010 Driver's Station netbooks made a few test runs in the Mentor matches during the lunch break. It was also a chance to look at the prototype Delta playing field mentioned in Bill's Blog this week.
I didn't get a chance to talk to the teams running JAVA, but since the robots were always running I expect there weren't any major issues. Hopefully, someone can give us some feedback.
The DS netbooks got a shake down test too. They seemed to run without any major problems. Again any mentors wish to comment on their test match experience.
I was pretty inspired by the Delta field. It would be easy for any team to build a DS and/or HP area so their driver team could practice within a realistic environment. The only issues I heard from the field crew was the load in/out gate sticking and having pinch points, and a comment that someone thought a few 3/16" pop rivets might have failed from robot impacts. I couldn't confirm that, but the field did have a few impressive robot impacts and it seemed to weather the storm.
My pictures should be up soon.
Congrats to all the teams and volunteers on a great event. Awesome costumes, and a lot of fun.

Neither, they borrowed 126's practice robot. The school claims 121's robot is their property. Apparently, the school is keeping the bot and the original team number, maybe 121 will be resurrected as an old new team, as opposed to 78 being a new old team. Understand?

Dan-My voice is gone. It hurt during eliminations and then when I finally pinned 131 during the last final match and realized we just might win, oh man, i've never yelled louder!
First off, I would like to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors, hosting teams 40,131,238,and 501, and all of the other teams in attendance. You ALL made this one of the best off-seasons I've attended, not only this year, but in my FIRST experience.
To 126- YOU GUYS WERE SOOOO AWESOME!!!!!!! I can't believe that we were able to pick you guys and we all worked so well together. All of your members were such a pleasure to work with and our robots worked so well on the field together! By the finals we were able to get our grove together with pinning and scoring. OH MAN!!!! You guys are probably the best team I have ever worked with! And congratulations on winning your well earned award! I hope that we all can work together in the future.
To teams 131 & 1474- When the alliance selections were going on, I thought to myself that you guys weren't one of the alliances that we would have trouble playing against. Boy was I wrong. CHAOS you guys are so hard to pin, and 1474 really made trying to operate on the field hard. You are both two very good teams, look forward to playing with you guys next season, and you guys are very, very deadly together.
To my team mates- All i can say is WOW!!!!! For all of those whom switched out drive team during the seeding matches and those whom drove with me in the finals. Our team could not have been 1st seed without you guys! You all were extremely impressive with your level of skill. I really can't wait for 2010 now!:D
Thanks again to everyone and now onward to 2010!

Actually, the Rhode Warriors ( Team 121 ) will continue to be a school based team as it always has. We hope to compete in the 2010 season, but as of this moment it is questionable. It was quite unfortunate that a lot of the mentors left to form another team. But just as other teams have lost major mentors / sponsors, we hope to rise to the challenge and overcome this difficulty.

Always good to get both sides of the story. Good Luck.
From team 78 I would like to offer some big thanks to quite a few teams and people too numerous to mention!
First off, thank you to our elimination partners team 88 TJ^2. We had very exciting matches and even the ones we lost were very close. Great job and thank you!
Also thanks to the Manchester teams who work hard to put this competition together. Memorial High School was a great host and the facility was great for this competition. With all of the new things being tested (new playing field, field management software, JAVA, new driver stations) it was a great job to keep things running well with no major problems.
Last but certainly not least we would like to offer huge thanks and recognition to team 126 Gael Force. Winners of the River Rage Legacy Award and the Championship, this team still deserves much more for all of the things they do to support teams and the program. 126 continues to push the standard up for all teams and defines what a class act team is made of. 126 helped us imeasurably by lending their unused extra robot, support that shows what the best teams in FIRST are made of.
Thank you and good luck to all teams in the upcoming season!

A huge thanks and recognition to team 2648 for bringing their robot down to River Rage and allowing us to use it! Our team game gained some real insight on the competition experience. This was a true act of "Gracious Professionalism".
Thank you to team 190 for being excellent alliance partners! It was a great experience working with you.
Thank you to the Manchester teams who worked hard to host this competition together. Memorial High School was a great facility for the competition.
Our team is really looking forward to 2010 and beyond!

Eric, I didn't realize until now that you guys were using 2648's robot. Your students sure didn't act like it was their first time at a competition. I wanted to come over when I didn't have time and once near the beginning, I passed by your team and said, "Nope, not them."
Congratulations on being 3rd seed! You must have been excited!

On behalf of the RiverRage Committee (which is made up of mentors from the Manchester teams: 40, 131, 238, 501) I would like to thank each and every one of you who made RiverRage a great event! We love that teams get into the Halloween spirit and push their robots for one last round of Lunacy!
I would like to congratulate all the award winners (below) and especially 126 for their Legacy Award win. You truly are a great team!
Finally, I would personally like to thank my fellow committee members for all of their hard work to make the longest running event in FIRST fantastic yet again. I've only been on the committee since 06, but I am constantly amazed at how everyone knows what needs to happen and gets it done flawlessly!
See you at RiverRage 14 (tentative: Oct 30 2010)!

i too lost my voice yelling during the elims...i was coachin behind the glass and i have never yelled louder in excitement when we saw 1519 take out 131 by pinning them in the corner...they were such a defensive force. thanks for a great ending to a great season of lunacy.
Hello Jessica, Team 20 had a great time. It was the first all women drive team for our team. I had fun giving a demo on Java Beta. I am sorry we did not stay to the end. That is my fault. I got so tired. We are already talking about going to RiverRage next year. We will be going to your FRC regional tournament also. Thank you for everything.
