As the 2009-2010 season starts to wind down, I'm interested in what teams used the Regolith and what they did with it. I created a small Survey Monkey survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=tt_2bk8O0_2b5QlMynrF0_2b_2fsag_3d_3d) with just a few questions.

I'll publish the results in two weeks.

Thanks for your participation!

The TechnoKats' practice field is still covered with the stuff. We didn't want to remove it until after CAGE Match, because we have drivers who want to practice.

Our various plans for what to do with it after we're done with Lunacy include putting up walls between our machine shop and meeting areas, making shades for some of the annoyingly-placed windows on the west wall of the shop, and fabricating nice-looking durable signs for our pit canopy.

We're not moving it until January 9th, just to make sure;)
After that it will probably become walls around the practice area.

what are 'BUMP' posts?????????????!!!!!!!!!!
Posts that are simply there to put the thread higher on the portal or hurry up a response. They often take the form of "Bump." or "Can anyone help?". Most bump posts are made by the thread starter. And, as the rules point out, they are not allowed.

And I should have said

"25 teams have responded to the survey, some suprising results. Only one more week to go to submit your answers". The posts worked, there were another 25 responses.

I didn't want to make a thread about it, but I did want to share this; Wouldn't it be cool if there was a chrismas/winter holidays off-season event this year? The regolith resembles snow, and with some safely placed christmas lights, and santa hats, it would be a fun event!

i kinda like that idea. a wintery themed competiton would be fun, but won't it take a lot of time to put another competition together???

We didn't like the Regolith at all...It constantly kept changing traction, even between rounds it changed. If you went from an event that it was previously used at an event an event with a new sheet it was a completely different surface.

Carpet is a much better surface.

can i please point out that regolith is actually the "moon dust" covering on the surface of the moon and not the actual sheets of "regolith" that we purchased. One of our teamates at the Stennis Space Center Kickoff stood up and asked, quite loudly, where he could buy regolith. The NASA scientists responded "Were not selling any" lol
