View Full Version : 2007 IFI Radio Replacements

Hey guys,
We have built a promotional robot using old parts and the 2007 controller for FIRST. Unfortunately, after building it we noticed that the 2007 Radio Modem for Operator Interface and the 2007 Radio Modem for Robot Controller are not working and we would like replacements. The products are found at http://www.ifirobotics.com/radio_modem.shtml but they were quite pricey. We don't have any radios that are similar to this but we have the really old ones in our workroom. Is there anyway to make the ones before this model work with the 2007 OI and RC? If so, how? any electrical modifications or code changes? Also, if any team has these modems that are lying around and unused and would like to trade or something, let me know. This robot is a promotional robot so it would be really helpful if we can get it running

The older radios will work.

Just plug the older radios in and test if they work.

we tried that. By older radios i mean the older models. They are smaller and skinnier and when we connect them, nothing happens and it says like no radio. Is there anything we need to change in the code? Those old ones were before my time so I have not used them ever

I'll second Mark on this one. They do work, we broke the 08 ones in some random accident. You just have to make sure that one says "Robot" and one says "Opperator".

Also, make sure you're using two "red" or two "blue" radios (some of the text on the radio should be either red or blue).
