This is actually a good piece of advice. If a friend does let a friend go to MIT, the friend could easily become lost in/around the Stata Center (http://mag.sellmodern.com.php5-1.dfw1-1.websitetestlink.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/800px-stata_window.jpg). The buddy system says friends should always go with friends to MIT.
