I think one day, Greg's game hint thread will get him the necessary "evilness" he needs to join the GDC.

I don't WANT a game hint this year. I almost kicked off my GameHint2010-Workflow. (Modify /etc/hosts file to redirect CD to my local host.)

I had done the exact same thing & wondered who could be so evil as to post a fake hint.
I suspect Greg has a nice big bullseye on him now. As if he didn't already have one.
Nice one Greg.

For your reading pleasure (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50602). This isn't the first time that Greg has pulled this stunt. Maybe the first time for a [BB] but not a CD. He's a big tease. :)
I suspect that it takes more than evil trickery to be on the GDC.
*sigh* I'm not even sure why I said that. *sigh*

His mom is pretty good at that herself. Ask Greg what she did at the Tel Aviv Regional a while back!

'Twas the calm before kickoff, in the whole CD house
The keyboards were silent. No one clicked their mouse.
The FIRST page was open and watched with great care
In hopes that the game hint soon would be there
The students with iPhones monitored threads
While visions of moon-fish danced in their heads
And I in my office working through year-end crunch
Had opened the browser while eating my lunch
When out on the home page there arose some new matter
I clicked on the subject to join in the chatter
Into the posting I tore like a flash
Hoping my browser would not crawl or crash
The words at the top of the newly shown page
Made me feel like a chump, but didn't enrage
BECAUSE IT WAS A FALSE ALARM!!
Oh, well. I'll keep watching and waiting...

Back in the day we made our own game hints (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11839). And now that I'm re-reading the thread, we didn't have regionals in Seattle or Manchester, either - completely forgot about that.
(Every time I pull this thread out I remember how old I am...)
Plagerism does not become you Greg. You are usually more gracious in your attempts to lead us down the garden path. I see a law suit coming your way you naughty boy.
BTW why do you have so much time on your hands?
You can tell it's fake because there have been only a handful of replies over several hours. A real hint would have escalated into the hundreds of replies by now.

Dave, I think if FIRST wanted to achieve its ultimate goal of ruining families it should hold onto that game hint for at least a week extra.

Dave posted in Greg's thread. This makes for very bad game hint karma. Very bad. Awful. As in, run - run far far away - awful.
And besides, it's probably another one of those .-...//--./.. things. Did I spell anything?:p

If you believe that I could sell you some lovely riverside property in Brooklyn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooklyn_Bridge#Cultural_significance).
Very funny. Now i have to explain to the wife why her monitor is punched in and the dog won't come out from under the bed.
Now since Dave posted that and we don't believe it, that only means it will be posted tomorrow, but since I said that, it will be postponed even more. OR with the cruelty of the GDC we might be able to expect it out today. [/crazy rant that ends with be being dragged to the nut house.]
This is probably a dumber thing to say, but has anyone looked to see if a game hint was posted anywhere?

Or some oceanfront property in Indiana (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=75486&postcount=10).
Wait, I forgot - this is going to be true in a few years due to global warming and polar ice cap melting. Andy Baker is truly a visionary. I'm going to start buying up Indiana cornfields.

Lies; you were not forewarned. Mark and I just laughed and eluded the "IS THERE A GAME HINT!?" question.

Kudos... *claps slowly at Genius Greg* =:-|
But really, I am going to be soo surprised if FIRST doesn't give a hint next week, which should be the mark for half a month to the Kick-Off. The hint, as we all can see, take a significant role in our lives in FIRST. Without it, the game is nothing... The sense of being fooled into water games (insert link to previous discussion)....

Part of me is doubting that there is one. Hey at least none of us have died from nohintafobia!
I suspect they sent it by snail mail to one team that is not on chief delphi or connected to any other team. Cruel much?

When's the hint coming? My suspicion is one of the following:
There is no hint.
Somebody complained about the hints being too distracting to students' as they try to finish their schoolwork, so they'll release it in the next few days now that they are sure everyone's done with school.
Somebody complained about the hints being too distracting to everyone's family plans in the holiday season, so they'll release it after the holidays are over.
It's already been posted publicly online and the GDC is shocked nobody's found it.
As rtfgnow suggested, they may have sent it to a small group of teams as a social communication experiment.
Instead of a hint with coordinates, as in 2008, the game hint is simply physically placed in a location of significance to the game. Nobody's figured it out yet.
I'm speculating about game hints instead of the game. Wow...

It's very simple really. The hint is full of so much mind-boggling confusion that they had to use more wrapping paper which meant they needed more tape which meant that the ribbon was just short of long enough to tie into the perfect bow which meant they had to start over which meant that they are making elves look like they are moving in slow-motion. Simple.
Not during finals...

Wow. That's has to be really tough...
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?p=889708#post889708Even so, it only takes a few people complaining about something to make a change.
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?p=889708#post889708
We also have finals the same week. Its tough because we lose a good 20 hours of build during the weekend leading up to finals, and theres no way really to regain those hours, unless we wanted to burn out the whole team before the end of the 6 weeks. But I look at it this way, robotics is a choice and a commitment that my teammates and I have chosen to make :)
