Our crio is going crazy... for some reason our "Safe Mode" dip switch is inverted. When we set it to "off" the crio imaging tool says that safe mode is "on". Also we will get absolutely no communication with the robot unless we physically press the reset button on our crio.

My question is will a robot inspector see this at competition and want us to turn safe mode off (or in our case ON)?

I assume you've called NI and reported the problem?

Ours appears to be identical. I don't know if it's a problem, or if the picture in the manual is incorrect?

Is it possible that the dip works, but that the pressed state isn't clear? Press on the side that you want to transition to.

Currently we have not contacted NI. As we figured well it still works its not broken just a little confused if it wants to be safe.

As for the dip switch we are fine as long as there is no rule stating the crio safe mode having to be in the "OFF" position.

But for having to physically press the reset button on the controller now thats a problem for NI. Will contact NI and post a reply for all those with similar issues.

Just glad we aren't the only ones with this issue.

Yes, the DIP switch is simply unclear. It works in the counter-intuitive state.

But for having to physically press the reset button on the controller...

Are you saying that you have to press and hold the button? Or that the cRIO doesn't reset via DS or other means?

As for the dip switch, I was able to look at one today, and with normal usage, all dip switches should be pressed down/in on the left side. If using a serial cable, the console out needs to be turned on.

According to the way you described it, our dip switch is correct then. I am guessing that in the picture(s) in the FIRST documentation the safe mode switch is incorrectly set.

Yeah for having to reset I mean:
That when we first boot up our crio the classmate and robot cannot communicate with each other. The only way to solve the communication error is to press and hold the reset button on the crio. It's strange... Doesn't seem normal.
