If you use an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch, then I'd like to inform you that there is a new app that was released yesterday that is now available for download.

When not building a robot, members of team 624 have been working an application that is a convenient source for accessing the rules and regulations among other things for the 2010 F.I.R.S.T Robotics Competition.

Version 1.0 was just approved by Apple and made available on the iTunes App Store, but you are required to have 3.1.2 firmware on your device. Version 1.0.1 should be approved in the next few days and it will allow you use the app on devices that have 3.0 firmware and up.

Click on the logo below to direct you were to download the application.

There will later updates after the build season is over with new features and enhancements.

Thanks, just downloaded it. It is great to have a pocket rule book. The whole manual printed takes up a whole binder and 2.7 trees worth of paper! Do you plan on making the updates accessible to?

I remember this app from last year, it was a great way to be able to have a game manual wherever I went. Thanks guys!

If it's possible, could this application be made available on the Android market, as well? It would be awesome if Android users could also have access to the application on their phones.

I'd love to see this adapted for WebOS on Palm devices

Will this be able to push rules updates as soon as they are released, or will Apple need to re-approve the app each time?

Did you get permission to do this?

All of the updates will be available though the app store, but unfortunately it will have to be re-approved which is pretty speedy lately. There is also a lite version coming out that is called FRC Breakaway Lite that can be downloaded over the 3G network because it does not include the animation. I am also sorry to inform you that we will not be devolving for any other platform, we have already spent too much time away from the build and need to get back to our robot and studies.

You should be able to without any software just browse to the FIRST site and down load the files to your android.

I have had the manuals and diagrams on my android since kick-off

You may find the file manager app ASTRO is useful for navigating to your downloads.
