Back in 2008, I worked with the fantastic, incredibly awesome Team #148 and mentored the students working on award submissions. I preached my methods on how to write an effective, informative, professional essay for the Woodie Flowers Award, and lo and behold, their wonderful candidate JVN won at the Bayou Regional (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2127).
I wrote this whitepaper back in 2008 (this plug is shameless, I know) to help students on other teams who wrote to me for assistance, saying they didn't know where to start with the WFA or UFH Awards. Never fear!
Below is the link - it's worth the look, and it's a great way to get started. You can also send your award submission to me for final review, too. Just send me a message and I can get back to you with more information.

Enjoy! I sincerely hope it helps you to write an essay you can be proud of producing.
