Looks like carbon fiber to me. Is this what you're planning on suspending other robots from?

Right on with the carbon fiber!

The carbon fiber itself was donated. We happen to have a mentor who is in aviation technology at Purdue, and he was able to acquire some scrap 8-ply (two 54"x6" pieces).
