The original burn award (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=283286#post283286) was a deduction of 7 points from one half of a first-place tie (post #14 in the linked thread has the reasoning). A few contests later, it became a fixture. Draw your own conclusions...
Members of team 842 recreate the raising of the flag on Mt. Surabachi. The last thing we heard them say was "Hey, what happened to the guys holding the other side of the flag?"

842, attempting to do Dean's homework. Too bad nobody will see it.
<npoe>In all due respect, kudos to these kids for making the climb. I'd like to know how they managed to get the flag up there, because climbing mountains is much easier said than done, nevermind a flag.</npoe>

Mountain Tribe: "You can't claim it, we live here."
824: "Do you have a flag?"
MT: "Why would we need a flag?"
842: "No flag, no mountain. Those are the rules... we just made up."
MT: "Well that's ridiculous!"
842: "No its not, and we can back up our land claims with this robot."
MT: "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! IT'S AALLLIIIIIIIIIVVVEEEEE!" <Runs away in fear of being kicked by 842's awesome Breakaway kicker. Contrary to popular belief, their kicker isn't used for kicking balls. Its used for kicking butt.>

Close--I actually was enacting the Billfred Was Trying To Be a Good Boyfriend On Valentine's Day Rule, a close sibling of the Billfred Is Working Way Too Much Rule. But enough about that.
