is that red cable at the bottom just to keep balls from penetrating from the side?

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too... it looks like 1/4" piece of round belting, so it could also be used to transfer power from wheel to wheel, or serve as a little "tread" just to help the robot up over the top of the bump... but I think your suggestion makes the most sense.

The robot looks good, and while I'm sure you've already planned to do it, please remember to put your number on the bumpers.

The red tubing on the side is bungee cord material. It's purpose is to keep balls out and still let us get over the bumps.

I LOVE the hanging arm design. I think I'm going to borrow it.

I was hoping for another movie with Tom Petty soundtrack :(

Maybe still one to come?

Looks great, as usual.

Ya know...I'm amazed. Not by the beautiful looking robot (which it is). Instead, more by the fact that I've been doing this for a very very long time, and EVERY YEAR team 56 is one of the first robots to post a full picture, completely built, painted and everything. And EVERY YEAR its a major contender. How the heck do you guys keep such a tight schedule and manage to get a great robot done so soon so consistently!

Great job!

The hook holds up fine and has no problem supporting the weight of the robot. However, since the time the picture was taken on Monday we have rearranged the location of the hooking mechanism to give us a little more flexibility in where we can hang.

What about the numbers for all four sides? I'm guessing the bumpers?

That would be a good idea, since that's the rule this year. I hope your team is planning to comply.

Nice looking robot here.

Yes we plan to comply (imagine how embarrassing it would be if one was to show up to a competition without). The wording (and the fact their is a question mark) at the end of my previous statement here made it sound as though we don't, sorry.
