FIRST events are driven by volunteers, and many of the people on this forum do so. I ask then, what FIRST events are you volunteering at this year?

I won't be volunteering at FRC this year, I tend to want to try and focus on that event because I'm in it...
But I put in 9 hours at our (World's Largest!) FLL tournament, and another few hours in as a team coordinator at the Moscow FTC competition.

For those of you who haven't heard back from your local regional Coordinators, I highly recommend sending an email and starting the conversation. Your RD, Senior Mentor, or Regional Planning Committee chair should know their contact info.
I know personally this year I was holding back a couple of good people until I saw what happened at the scrimmages, and I can't take as many volunteers as I usually can, but keep in mind that there are a variety of reasons that they may not have contacted you: they may not know your expertise, the days you are able to volunteer or the roles you want may not work with the needs they have, etc.
Starting the conversation shows that you are genuinely interested and would be a great volunteer. And if you're flexible with your role, say so! I make a habit of offering more experienced roles to volunteers who took a job last year that they may not have been thrilled to do, but did it enthusiastically and well (Jacob is an excellent example of that.)
Good luck!

Doh! Ok teams, make sure those sharp edges are taken off and stored energy is well contained. A CD-media search on Tytus seems to show alot of photos with him in various states of injury.
