5 QF matches before 839, 190, and 2523 finally dispatch 1124, 195 and 2791: 2 ties then they win 1 and we win 2.
When was the last time a QF round went to 5 matches?

A tie is something that happens much more often in low scoring matches. With a high score being around 10, a very defensive game will keep alliances with an almost equal score of around 3 or 4. Expect many ties for Breakaway, unlike the high scoring games like Lunacy.
Florida may have 5 shortly. They just finished their 3rd match of QF3. Two ties and a 1 point victory for blue. At least one more match.
Well, QF3-4 ended in a tie on the shooting, but there was a penalty. Blue won in 4 QF matches. Very close.

Somewhere in California (I think San Diego) there was a case of this in 2007, iirc. Very vague, I know. Hopefully someone can elaborate further.
Ah, the UC Davis Regional with teams 100, 997, and another (1458?) versus 1726, 1662, and 295. I believe we won the first one, tied, lost, tied, and then lost one more time. Of course I would remember that, it was the most intense set of quarter finals I've ever witnessed, very high scoring in every match.

I remember at PARC in 2008, 145, 222 and the other 2 teams that were on our alliance (I dont remember the numbers, both broke down) played 9 matches between the QFs and Semis. One win in the QFs was a 2v3 match for 145 and 222. I will remember that for a looooong time.

Palmetto had a five-match quarterfinal in 2008; one match was a tie, one match was thrown out due to referee scoring errors (they couldn't say for sure that they'd counted the end-of-match overpass points that would affect the outcome). They also had a four-match final that year for another tie.

Sean forgot to mention that mentor Tom Heller was behind the glass for both of these; first as the drive coach for 1726 at Davis, then for 2791 at WPI!

Your 5 may have been a long road but the 6 that our team went through was rough on the robot.

Yeah...that was just ridiculous. I've seen 5-match elims before, but 6 matches (and almost a 7th, had there not been penalties) is beyond belief.
You guys played great out there though, I was really sorry to see your drive having trouble in the finals.

Unfortunately we still have no idea what is wrong with the driveline. They made us put the robot in the crate before we had time to look at it for more than 5 minutes.

Wasn't 5, only 4, but our #2 alliance played 5 matches IN A ROW:
1 vs. 4- 1 wins
2 vs. 3- tie
1 vs. 4 - 1 advances
2 vs. 3- 2 wins
2 vs. 3- tie
2 vs. 3- 2 advances
6 minutes to change the bumpers... ahhhhh!
1 vs. 2- 1 wins
1 vs. 2- 1 wins
We like to think our robot was tired when we got to the finals ;)
But really the #1 alliance was just awesome.

Yea, it was pretty hectic. Our alliance (teams 3111, and 3059), who were amazing if I do add, were nearly done by the 5th round. Our robot basically went through hell with all the punishment it received (and gave). Our kicker even dropped an inch or two causing it to have a much further, higher kick than prior matches, yet it completely messed up when trying to score close.
Congrats on winning the New York Regional. Your team was amazing.

I noticed that. He's cursed, darnit! But I'll take best-of-5-in-quarterfinals curses if we get to keep him in the box in the elims, he's fantastic.
