View Full Version : Predict the winning alliance at your regional?

Hey guys,

Look at the regional you will be attending and then the team list that will be there. With how everything is going, who do you predict will be the winning alliance of your regional and why?

I predict 1551, 217 and 174 will win FLR.
Wow! That was easy!
Check it out!

It's still kinda early for Palmetto(Well...one week), and it's hard to tell what exactly are the abilities of a robot from Blue Alliance, but look for at least one or more of the following teams to be on the winning alliance.

343
342 (If they pull off their remodeling job)
1319 (If they pull off their remodeling job)
1261
1379
2815

Hmmm. I don't know much about most of the teams attending North Carolina, but I think that team 79 will be in the finals or win it! Teams 1902, 48, 1319, and 122 I expect will do very good. But it is very difficult to say if those homeschoolers from New Hampshire will even make the eliminations! ;)
I just hope the robot performs the way it should and stays intact to be honest! :o

Good luck to everyone in North Carolina!

You can bet that we will pull ours off, in fact the changes are so small they may go unrecognized (mainly tweaking of a few things and drive team practice) however it sounds like 342 could be showing up with an entirely differnet bot we will see. I totally agree with all of your picks and will also throw into the ring 945 as well as 1102 and I hear that rookie team 3371 has an awesome way to hang so we will see.

I just realized that I had not seen 2815's robot yet, however based on last years performance and the people that make up the team I am sure they will have an excellent robot. Does anyone have any pics?

It won't be that drastic. I would also throw 281 in the ring for Palmetto. They looked pretty solid at Peachtree. This year is hard to call because it has really cut down the usual divide between veteran and rookie teams

at the BMR theres always either 45 135 234 or 1024 in the mix.

It will all come down to the drivers, and physics I guess

But I don't know.

It was pretty obvious that 86 (the rolling robot) would do well at Florida and sure enough, it won.

I'd throw 294 and 233 into that mix. 330 and 294 have regional wins to their credit already. 1717 has a finalist. Those three tend to mix it up in SoCal regional final rounds.

As far as Colorado goes, I'd expect a team from outside Colorado/Wyoming to be on the winning alliance this year(either: 1592, 1540, 1817, or 399). In terms of local teams: 1583 built a nice, well designed robot this year, as well as 1619. You can't discount team 2083, They have been in the eliminations every year for the past 3 years, making it to the finals twice.

hahaha, we were working when the Florida regional was on, and I was the only one watching when I first saw 86 roll over and land the somersault. I flipped out and I quickly went to go get my teammates to see the acrobot. The next time though, it didn't quite land correctly, so we were all bummed out, but then it corrected itself and then we all flipped out even more.

The above happened in a period of 30 seconds. :P

Just thought I'd let everyone know. :D

Waterloo Regional:
I expect to see one or more of these teams on the winning alliance.
1114, 2056, 610, 1565, 2609, 1503, 1305, 2200, 854 and 772. :D

Yeah, Waterloo is going to be pretty competitive this year... I think I could have included most of the rest on the list if I wanted though :S.

I mean, 1114 is the most obviously dominant robot so far, but this game seems right up the alley of many of the teams attending. Many of us have built robust, high quality robots for years, and 1114 has set a standard that I think all Canadian teams are fighting to achieve.

It is going to be worth watching.

For GTR:

In 2006: 1114 and 1503 and I can't find the results
In 2007: 1114 and 2056 and 176
In 2008: 1114 and 2056 and 2166
In 2009: 1114 and 2056 and 2185

So now I'm going to go out on a limb and say:
In 2010: 1114 and 2056 and <3rd robot>
In 2011: 1114 and 2056 and <3rd robot>
In 2012: 1114 and 2056 and <3rd robot>
In 2013: 1114 and 2056 and <3rd robot>

It's extremely impressive to see such amazing robots every year, but I'm a little envious of regionals in other areas where there's a little variety in who wins. That said, I'm dying to see 1114 in action in Waterloo to get a close-up look of their robot this year.

217, 469, 33

Just kidding but i guarentee that if 217 gets first seed they will pick 469.

Which may or may not result in complete domination of the compitition.

However, we're ready for this... kind of.

I think a better question would be... "When will 2056 lose a regional?" They have won all the regional events that they have ever attended. I personally don't know when that will be because they put out a great robot year after year.

It would not suprise me at all if 67 is one of the winning team. It will be interesting to see who else is up there. With the teams down at the event this year it could be very competitice and there might be an alliance that could beat 67. We will be looking to defend our title!

I kind of figured that. Same here.

By the way, I have a prediction for how long it'll take the L.A. inspectors to get every robot inspected: Until about 1 PM on Saturday.

(It won't take that long--more likely 9 AM Friday--but some robots get it twice or thrice.)

My post earlier regarding the West Michigan district event left out a team that I regrettably missed. Immediately after posting, I thought someone would have quickly added this team, but apparently not (yet).

So, along with my other suggestions, there is another team that deserves recognition in West Michigan this weekend, and that team is 2771 Code Red Robotics (http://coderedrobotics.com/). They are a very strong 2nd year team, and they will be in the finals with 1918 and maybe 904 or 2000.

I also believe 2771, Code Red, will be streaming video from this event. Check out their website for details.

My personal experiences with 1124 on defense at WPI, plus the potential for iteration and a successful back autonomus mode, would make them a perfect second round pick and defensive power. I doubt they'll pull off what they did in 2008, but I'll be very surprised if they miss elims.

A good number two alliance to face them off 33/910/326

If I remember correctly, 3025 had a sail on their robot, correct? No offense to them, but the only thing that was impressive was that they managed to get a match schedule that got them to rank #1.

Neither 2815 nor 1398 got into the finals at Bayou, but I know that my team is making drastic changes to our robot, and I'd be foolish to expect them to sit around until Palmetto.

330, 1717, 1452 over 294, 968, 980 in finals; 294, 968, 980 beat 190, 233, ???? in semis.

Do I see competition at North Carolina? Yes! Some big league teams like 1519 Mechanical Mayhem, 900 Team Infinity, 122 NASA Knights, 832 Oscar, 1772 Trailblazers, 79 Team Krunch, and 1902 Exploding Bacon! All of these teams could do very well... they have in other competitions from what Blue Alliance says!

Good Luck and hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Petrie

Challenge accepted.

In my opinion, trying to predict the winners of MSC is like trying to predict the world champion alliance. States is stacked even more than last year, when a few robots like 67, 68, 217, 245, and 1918 seemed to stand above the rest. Now we've got 27, 33, 51, 67, 70, 201, 217, 245, 469, 494, 573, 910, 1718, 1918, 2337, 2612, 2645, and 3357 who can all put up huge points. And that's just the top tier: Great scorers and defenders will be available for second picks and some will not even be chosen. Do not give up hope after seeing 217 and 469 team up and win two districts. 469 can be yours, and if not, they can be stopped.

My prediction is that even if 217 and 469 end up winning the whole thing, the finals matches will be the most amazing matches I have ever seen.
