View Full Version : Consecutive Event Wins
I wanted to start a thread to discuss a couple of topics, but I feel as though they are related topics so I put them in the same thread.
2056 has now played in 7 regional events in their history and won all of them. Has any other team ever won 7 consecutive regionals?
Since I've only been around since 2007 I was wondering if there are any other such streaks as this one, or streaks that are close?
The other question I had, is does anyone have a list of the teams in order that have won the most regionals all time?
I'd be curious to take that information and also use it to figure out the team that has won the highest percentage of regionals in which they have participated.
I did research other threads, and I found some related threads, but they were all dis-similar enough that I thought a new thread for the topic was justified since the answer to my question wasn't directly in any thread.

Team 254 has the second longest streak and the most regional wins.
Off the top of my head, I know that 254 has won SVR from '99-06 and '08-Present not to mention the bunches of regionals other than SVR in between.
I believe 254 has the longest single-event streak as well--they won SVR every year until a couple years ago (was it 2007 or 2008?). They are now starting their second single-event streak at that same event.

Not 100% sure on this statistic, but as far as I know, 177 has been a division winner at Championships for the past 4 years (2006-2009). I think they then hold the record for the most consecutive Einstein appearances, but I may be wrong.
To respond to my own question...although the district system is fairly new, 67 has the most all time with 5 and the most consecutive with 5.
71 is the only team with consecutive championships.

Wow...and I thought I was into robotics. :P
I've said this earlier, and I'll say it again, 2056's streak'll continue as long as 1114 or 2056 continue to produce strong robots and rank #1 seed.
It'll be interesting to see the year where 2056 and 1114 are on different alliances and they are forced to play against each other.

For single event consecutive wins:
Championship: 2 (71)
Championship Division (any): 4 (177)
Waterloo: 4 (2056)
Greater Toronto Regional: 5 (1114)
Silicon Valley Regional: 8 (254)
LA: 2 (330, 330, 69)
Peachtree: 2 (1261)
Anyone wanna help me finish?
L.A.'s longest streak is 2, held by 330 and 69 (different years, though). 330 has it twice. (2001-2002, 2007-2008) 69 has 2004-2005. 330 has the most wins at L.A. with 6 overall, and 2 finalists at the same event.
To wrap up: L.A. 2, 330 (2x), 69

Team 103, the Cybersonics, has won the New Jersey Regional four years in a row, from 2005-2008.
For single event consecutive wins:
Championship: 2 (71)
Championship Division (any): 4 (177)
Waterloo: 4 (2056)
Greater Toronto Regional: 5 (1114)
Silicon Valley Regional: 7 (254)
Anyone wanna help me finish?
254 won SVR 8 years in a row (99-06)
I don't think anyone else is close to 2056 in terms of consecutive regional events won since inception. 254 was at 5 before losing at Buckeye in 02.
Team 1261 won Peachtree in '05 and in '06. I am completely unsure if any other teams have won Peachtree in consecutive years, though.
To compile what we have so far...
Championship: 2 (71)
Championship Division (any): 4 (177)
Waterloo: 4 (2056)
Greater Toronto Regional: 5 (1114)
Silicon Valley Regional: 8 (254)
LA Regioanl: 2 (330 twice) and (69)
Regionals in general: 7 (2056)
Districts in general: 5 (67)
Consecutive official events (including nationals): 7 (67) (2009 -2010)

217 has 4.

The ThunderChickens only have 4 districts so far. I'm not counting the State Championships, HOT would have 6 if the State Championships counted a s a district.
The Chickens won Cass Tach and Troy in 2009, then again in 2010.
Edit: Chris beat me to it.

What about number of official events without a loss? 67 hasn't lost since the 2008 Championship Event. They've now won 7 consecutive events (3 districts + state championship + world championship in 2009, 2 districts in 2010).

Sorry, I keep thinking FLR is a district forgetting that MI teams can compete outside MI and attend regionals.
team 1086 has won the past 3 NASA/VCU regionals(08, 09, 10), along with Chairmans for the first 2(08, 09)
The Arctic Warriors (#174) has won the Finger Lakes Regional three times in a row (2008, 2009, and 2010).

Their team page lists them as finalists, but the event awards page lists them as a member of the winning alliance.

This chiefdelphi post says that 60 was on the winning alliance: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=471677&postcount=51 It also hints as to why there might be a discrepancy.
