All -
I thought it might be fun to hear the 'news' as teams arrive in ATL and/or set out for ATL.

How's everything going?
What's the latest?
Are we there yet?

This might be a great thread to share some photos, too.

:)

As always, keep it clean, please.

Arrived at 1pm, I had a nice lunch, and I'm currently typing this from my blackberry right outside the conference rooms while I wait for the next seminar to begin.

I know 1902 and 233 have arrived imn atlanta, I've seen some FTC teams here as well

Oh cool! The conferences!

Arrived about 10 minutes ago in the Embassy after haggling with the front desk a little. Someone spelt my name wrong! Trying to use my phone to figure out when and where conferences are.

I've personally had a great day so far. Some very nice 1114 parents helped me figure out my bearings when I got on the MARTA, I've seen so many robotics kids everywhere... It's great!

558 safely arrived and our load in crew is by now probably making their way to the conference center.

After 16 hours on the road, 2265 arrived at the Country Inn about an hour and a half ago. Our drive team is heading off to uncrate...just settling in and *trying* to do some homework :p

Can't wait for tomorrow!

MAYHEMers began invading the city around 12pm and are chilling at Wingate by Windham. Our hotel as a huge school group here so this just might get interesting.

See ARCHIMEDES tomorrow.

Team 51 should be in Atlanta by now.
As for myself, I will be taking off in a plane to Atlanta at 6AM tomorrow :D
I will be arriving around lunchtime, so I don't get to miss much.
I can't wait!

Okay, so, got on a plain at 6AM and spent seven hours flying to get here at 5:11... Time zones, don't ask. Serious jet lag.

Anyways, just arrived at the Wyndham Gardens Downtown (our hotel), after getting hit on by the security I'm sitting in a friends room baby sitting the coach/head mentors kid and finishing up our pre-game scouting data.

Four team members and the coach are at the Dome right now, installing our redesigned kicker.

Robotics seems to be EVERYWHERE. It's very cool.

I took a pass through the dormant FRC pits this afternoon before uncrating. I was on my way to the dome for volunteer orientation. I also took some "before" pictures of some of the crates. Maybe I'll post a team list of them. I expect to return to the pits later to get the "after" shots, so I'll need the list myself. Hmmm thinking with the fingers, are we Bill?

Oh, and nothing too special to report at the discover mills Lego store/outlet either. Any Lego stores near St. Louis? :) :]

photos uploaded, awaiting approval - crates involved 122, 118,3142,3145, 624,692,816,830,175,126, 75,111,40,48,399,461,117,120, 128, 151, 308, 281,668, 706?, 172, 801,558, 585, 842, 533, 486,525, 932, 1330?, 1379 - sorry for omissions and errors, your mileage may vary, close cover before striking, contains no cholesterol.

EEEEK! Not driving are you? And to think we were thinking that "texting" while driving is dangerous.::ouch::

Team 201 arrived in Atlanta around 6 PM after being on the road for aproximately 15 hours. We set up the pit tonight, got the robot inspected, ate a delicious dinner at a local shopping center, and are finally at the hotel relaxing.

We are trying to do some homework and getting scouting assignments finalized.

Team 910 - The Foley Freeze took a bus down and arrived this morning around noon. We toured the "World of Coke" this afternoon, and then split up into a load-in/pit setup group, a conference group, and a head back to the hotel and swim group.

We're staying at the new Springhill Suites by the airport. Anyone else?

Looking forward to seeing all our friends from around the country this weekend!

I can confirm that 558 has made it safely into Atlanta, and has settled in with a team member's tethered blackberry!

Good Luck New Haven, CT! You know by now of course - your crate made it OK too.

If you're that desperate for fast internet, walk up to Georgia Tech ;).

But yeah, I would much rather be in a hotel, anxiously waiting for the competition and trying to go to sleep, than in GT's library working on a lab report.

Hi Jane

I arrived yesterday and really look forward to meeting with teams today - before judging tomorrow. One thing I noticed is there are more recycle bins around, in the hotel room, airport, the thought of saving water is also present.

If anyone used SolidWorks Sustainability to determine the carbon footprint for green robot parts, please send me a private message. I would love to know the results.

See you soon. Marie

My crate pictures are up now. Sorry if it seems excessive to do that, but these are seldom seen but are part of a team's zeitgeist. I wish there were a way to tame the random unspillable battery notice sheet and the addresses etc. I suppose they're necessary, but is there a regulation that requires they be at a particular height? I'm sure they don't have to be crooked. :D

We're in the Holiday Inn by the airport; aren't those about right next to each other?

I'm at my sister's house on the east side of town near 285 since Sunday. I got to attend my niece's seventh birthday party and nearly got mauled by my other niece's psychotic cat which seemed hell bent to tear me a new one (must have gotten an e-mail from my mom's Ed-hatin' cat: If you see this dude GET IM!).
I'm on Curie queing and enjoying the last go around in Atlanta (though I am very concerned that Freaknik is happening with the hundred of other things in Atlanta this weekend, Traffic will be a nightmare).

Sounds like you need to steer clear of cats. Think Freaknic will be mostly outside of downtown but we will see. Hope to see you for one last time on Saturday as I am at work now.
