Based on the recent publication of the bag and tag events, Pittsburgh is back to being a three day event: March 10-12, 2011. I for one am glad to see it even though we now need to raise more money for the extra hotel night. The two day format ramped up the pressure a bit too high for my liking.

Wow, I registered for Smoky Mountain as our first event so we could apply for the NASA grant to new regionals and was thinking Pittsburgh would not fill up until after second regions opened up and now am on the outside waiting list probably. Hope to still get into, we have attended Pitt the last six years.

Last year Pittsburgh filled up during 1st regional registration as well, but then a few spots (maybe five?) opened up later. We were on a waiting list for a long time, which motiviated us to register for Pittsburgh as our first regional this time around.

Pittsburgh reserves 10 additional spots. 39 total. I know the demand far exceeds the supply this year. It is likely some teams will be left out, unless they can magically increase the size of the pits...not bloody likely!

Go to Cleveland - they don't bite...much.

I don't know why they don't use the practice courts under the stands for more pit space, Last I saw they have side by side practice courts just left of the volunteer lounge. If the space was used wisely they could put two fields in the main arena and the pits under the stands like the GTR Super Regional of old (and New).

We were looking at Cleveland and NC but both are back to back with Smoky Mountain and not for sure about shipping and getting kids out of school two weekends in a row right before our state testing window. Pittsburgh has always been our "home" regional. Just wait and see what happens, if nothing else, we will go to two FTC events and see what happens with Pittsburgh

Any idea how they will handle Thursday load-in? There won't be the typical 3-person crew going in early (nothing to uncrate). So, just a mad rush for the freight elevator?

No elevator at Pittsburgh. Just a mad rush to get in line at the loading dock.
