Is there a source to buy another Classmate PC from? I believe the part number is NBC2GO89A. Or is there an appropriate replacement laptop that my team could buy?

Any computer running Windows XP should work as well as the Classmate. I think a $200 netbook would be reasonable.

I presume we could use the thumb-drive to install all of the required software?

Use the DS Update (http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/lang/en/id/1535) to install all the necessary driver station code.

You might want to add a "Driver" account if you plan to use this in off-season events.

This isn't legal for competition, but for that I'd suggest waiting until Kickoff and the rules, before purchasing a competition-legal replacement.
