As always, the deadline is nominally Saturday at midnight Eastern.
Go!
Council members: "So, it's like Battlebots?"
Both robots and every team member in hearing range: "Not again..."
Students presenting: "If it was like Battlebots, at least one of these robots would be here in pieces. So no, it isn't."

Council President: "We'd like to give you a token of recognition. Each team will be presented our commemorative flag, 'Celebrating 40 Years of Beach Culture'."
Student: "Our goal is to change the culture ..."

"Yes, your honor. We did drive a robot down Main Street. But no, we weren't going faster than the speed limit. No, there was no driver on board and no we didn't have the street legal lights, turn signals, brake lights or license plates. Yes, we did pass inspection, but no we don't have a copy of the inspection sheet. We are well under the legal weight limit but no we don't have DOT approved brakes. We were in a parade after all."
"Case dismissed! Officer, see me in my chambers!"
Well looks like Gary and Al have this one in the bag. Guess my only hope is the Burn Award.
Even 294 & 330 together couldn't explain the DOGMA algorithm to the Board.
Robot traffic was bumper to bumper at last night's Hermosa Beach city council meeting.

330 and 294 Representatives: Sir, we realize that the police department doesn't receive many calls of distress from freezing robots but we can explain (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74148).
City Council member: Oh, this is going to be good.
Wayne Doenges

Lead adult: "Team 294, what can your robot do for us?"
Team 294: "Well, we can drive real well."
Lead adult: "Team 330, same question."
Team 330: "Well sir, we can score soccer balls really fast, we can do multiple zones and we can climb the tower."
*after 10 minutes of deliberation*
Lead adult: "Than we pick Team 330 for our alliance partner."
Team 330: "Team 330 graciously accepts."
*this is why we let the students pick their alliance partners*
"No... really... Beach Bot can't go surfing. It can't even run on sand. It plays soccer.... Yes, SOCCER! But not in the sand. No.... it doesn't play volleyball either... <sigh> It's a ROBOT, not a beach rat!"

Your honor, as the robot's representative, I assure you that he did not pin his opponent for more than five seconds.
YOU LIE!

Judge: "So 294 you were aware that 330 was using government property at the playground to practice hanging?"
294: "Yes, yes we did your honor."
Judge: "Carl do we have any rules on who gets to use the states playgrounds?"
330: "If we had more funding we could afford to build our own practice fields." ;)

Well, yes, these robots were parked illegally. No, sir, they weren't speeding. 12 feet per second, sir. Well, sir, the Krispy Kreme store had the HOT sign on, and one of our mentors (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0)...
if you can't win, at least make 'em suffer...
Get out of Caption Contest #330, Team 294. You are not Team 330, you are 294,
(it's a stretch, but a reference to this (http://28.media.tumblr.com/qyuzOO6cGi3zmax4BvAWpG9go1_400.jpg) meme)

294 and 330: "Not guilty. What did we even do?"
Judge: "We all saw that 6v0 match."
