View Full Version : Is Windriver/C++ going to be provided this year?

During a small workshop session in Chicago, one of the instructors mentioned that Windriver is backing out and will not provide software for FIRST therefore making C++ not an option this year.

Has anyone heard anything about this? I was skeptical when the instructor mentioned this because I had heard nothing about it. It would be problematic to not have C++ available...

I doubt this rumour is correct, although that is a little discomforting.

Keep in mind that although Windriver is just an IDE, they have VxWorks.

Not true.

WindRiver is supplying DVDs and doing the manufacturing for us, something that they haven't done in the past. Actually stepped up support rather than dropping it.

Okay, that's good to hear! Thanks!

Yes, good job being calm and asking about the validity of a rumor before fanning the flames and assuming the conspiracy must be true.

Brad,

Do you know which version of Workbench they'll be supplying? Will it include the simulator this year?

TIA,

Mike

It is the same as last year. No simulator.

Gee, that's too bad. I'd hoped they'd add the simulator. It sure would have made development a bit easier. But, at least I now can install the environment on the team laptops without worrying about uninstalling it later. I'll just need new keys to keep them running.

Thanks,

Mike
